From 8b20ce7372fd17c73cea473ef86bb2d69e5d316c Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Ben Kennedy Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2026 12:22:54 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Splice replaceRange in one pass when the markers allow it buildReplacementHandlers cuts a range element by element after a marker pass over a clone, a callback per element in the container, twice. When every range's markers are direct children of one container, spliceRangeReplacements marks each cut with comments in one pass, slices the string, and leaves a placeholder component so ContentElementHandler still renders replaceWith. Any other shape returns null and the per-element path runs unchanged. A parity test runs the range fixtures and edge cases through both paths and asserts identical HTML. On a 200 KB article the range replacement drops from ~30 ms to ~3 ms. --- .changeset/range-splice.md | 5 + src/stages/spliceRangeReplacements.ts | 174 ++++++++++++++++++ src/stages/surfaceComponents.ts | 13 ++ test/stages/spliceRangeReplacements.spec.ts | 191 ++++++++++++++++++++ 4 files changed, 383 insertions(+) create mode 100644 .changeset/range-splice.md create mode 100644 src/stages/spliceRangeReplacements.ts create mode 100644 test/stages/spliceRangeReplacements.spec.ts diff --git a/.changeset/range-splice.md b/.changeset/range-splice.md new file mode 100644 index 00000000..a4f76aa8 --- /dev/null +++ b/.changeset/range-splice.md @@ -0,0 +1,5 @@ +--- +"@monetizationos/proxy": patch +--- + +Apply `replaceRange` in one rewriter pass and a string cut when its markers are direct children of the container, instead of a callback per element across two passes.
