The preset (physics-v1) selects cosmic legs against collision tracks; in cosmics runs (BEAMTYPE cosmic) the matcher now runs with its own defaults. COSMICS_PRESET=none switches the preset off in any run (before: fatal, unknown preset), an explicit COSMICS_PRESET still applies in cosmics runs. Cosmics runs reconstruct the TPC without corrections, so the legs miss their ITS hits by mm to cm: ITS road half-width 2.5 cm there (default 1.5 cm), COSMICS_ITS_ROAD_WIDTH overrides it in any run. The ITS road needs only the ITS clusters from the CTF decoding, not the ITS reco: ITS is a road detector when it is in the input, so a cosmics pass can drop the ITS tracking and keep the ITS hits of the cosmics; TOF and TRD still need their reco.
