Review comments at @docs/docs/reference/telemetry.md:
- Line 52: Update the Privacy Checklist to reflect the documented `stack` field
behavior: stack frames may include shortened file paths using only the last
three path segments, with the home prefix removed. Keep the checklist consistent
with the `error_fingerprint` row.
Review comments at @packages/opencode/src/altimate/telemetry/index.ts:
- Around line 1318-1319: Update SQL detection around SQL_WORDS so error text
beginning with statements such as CREATE TABLE and DROP TABLE is redacted as
<sql redacted> before being sent as error_message. Extend the detection to cover
these statement shapes or add a conservative fallback in the errorDetail flow,
preserving existing redaction behavior.
- Around line 1762-1764: Update the credential-redaction rule in the
error-message sanitization flow to also mask credentials in common
colon-separated key/value formats, such as password followed by a colon and a
value. Ensure the value is redacted before the error text is persisted to
telemetry; if the format cannot be safely sanitized, omit the error text.
Review comments at @packages/opencode/src/session/prompt.ts:
- Line 2182: Update the tool-error producer so `part.state.error` retains stack
frames from the original execution error, or pass the original error to
`Telemetry.errorDetail` instead of only its message. Preserve the existing
telemetry flow for `errorDetail` to extract frames from ordinary tool failures.
Review comments at @packages/opencode/test/telemetry/error-detail.test.ts:
- Around line 62-63: Update the credential URI fixtures in the error-detail test
to avoid hardcoded PostgreSQL credentials, using separately defined test values
or an accepted fixture form. Preserve the userinfo-masking assertions for both
username and password.

Type of change
What does this PR do?
Today
error_fingerprintcarries only a hash of the error. You can tell an error is frequent, but not what kind of error it is. This adds one optional field,error_message, built so that user text cannot reach it.error_messageis built from a fixed vocabulary. The first line of the error is split into words, and each word is kept only if it is inERROR_VOCABULARY, a sorted list of 363 common error words such as "cannot", "delete", "file", "permission", "denied", "connection", "refused" and "timeout". Every other run of characters becomes<x>, and the result is capped at 200 characters. The output can only ever contain vocabulary words,<x>and spaces. That rules out identifiers, paths, numbers, quoted values, names, SQL objects and non-ASCII text. The vocabulary deliberately leaves out credential words (password, secret, token, key, auth, cookie, session, bearer and similar), so they never appear.
Example:
Cannot delete file /Users/alice/acme.sql: permission deniedbecomescannot delete file <x> permission denied.maskStringand the fingerprint hash input are unchanged. The new code is insrc/altimate/telemetry/error-detail.ts, andsession/prompt.tscallsErrorDetail.describeToolErrorandErrorDetail.buildErrorFingerprintEvent.docs/docs/reference/telemetry.mdis updated: theerror_fingerprintrow, and the Privacy section.Earlier versions of this PR used regex masking and then a word-shape template. Review kept finding new ways for user text to get through, such as quotes, escapes, Unicode and credential-label forms. The fixed vocabulary closes that class by construction. The cost is that a message only stays readable when its words are in the list, and the list is a judgment call worth a look.
How did you verify your code works?
bun test test/telemetry test/altimate/telemetry-safety.test.ts: 410 pass, 0 fail.<x>or a vocabulary word, with no credential word and no user word. The inputs cover alphabetic and compound credentials; typographic, backtick and escaped quotes; paths with spaces; SQL with identifiers; names; base64; emails; URLs; and non-ASCII text.bun run typecheck: clean. Upstream marker check: ok. GitGuardian: no secrets.Screenshots / recordings
Not a UI change.
