Expand the accepted and proposed architecture records with standards context and APA 7th References from opened RFC Editor, Crossref, JWZ, PEP 561, GitHub Docs, and PyPI Docs records. Keep each Decision unchanged. Leave the root README a customer/host guide with only a maintainer pointer to the existing hourly operations playbook. (rfc-editor.org)

RFC 5256 section 3.2 subject-based threading optional section 3.3 sorting algorithm optional
💡 Result:
RFC 5256 doesn’t label either section 3.2 or 3.3 “optional”:
- **§3.2 — ORDEREDSUBJECT:** describes subject-based threading: messages are grouped by *base subject*, ordered by sent date, and arranged into threads. The document defines this algorithm; it does not make the section itself optional. ([datatracker.ietf.org](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256?utm_source=openai))
- **§3.3 — REFERENCES:** defines the alternative, reference-header-based threading algorithm. ([datatracker.ietf.org](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256?utm_source=openai))
“Optional” may refer to **server support**: RFC 5256 says clients discover supported threading algorithms through the server’s `THREAD` capability, so a client should use an algorithm the server advertises. The RFC also defines `SORT` as a separate extension. ([rfc-editor.org](https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc5256/?utm_source=openai))

RFC 5256 sections 3.2 and 3.3 exact text subject gathering sent-date sorting sibling sorting optional algorithm stages
💡 Result:
RFC 5256’s **Sections 3.2 and 3.3** describe the `ORDEREDSUBJECT` and `REFERENCES` threading algorithms. I can’t reproduce both sections’ full exact text here, but the official text is available in the [RFC](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256#section-3.3). The stages you asked about are in **Section 3.3, steps 2–6**:
1. **Gather parentless messages** under a dummy root.
2. **Prune dummy messages**, promoting children where specified.
3. **Sort top-level siblings by sent date**; for a dummy, sort its children and use the first child for the top-level sort.
4. **Gather threads with the same base subject**, using a subject table, then merge matching threads according to the rules.
5. **Sort every sibling set by sent date**, processing younger sibling sets before older ones (grandchildren before children). For a dummy at the top level, use its first child for sorting. ([datatracker.ietf.org](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256))
The RFC’s “sent date” is the `Date:` header date/time normalized to UTC; if it cannot be determined, it uses the message’s `INTERNALDATE`. ([datatracker.ietf.org](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256))
**“Optional algorithm stages”**: the RFC presents these as the specified six-step `REFERENCES` algorithm, not as optional stages. The optionality in the surrounding text concerns implementation choices elsewhere; the algorithm’s listed steps are normative instructions. ([datatracker.ietf.org](https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc5256))

(docs.github.com)

Each ADR keeps its existing Decision intent. Context is expanded with the opened official records, and every ADR now has an APA 7th References section with a DOI or official catalog URL.
README stays customer/host facing (install, public API, Naruon composition hub importing the published leaf stdlib package). The hourly autonomous-maintenance sentence is now a maintainer pointer to the existing playbook. CHANGELOG records the docs change.
