docs/design/laptop-audio.md only. The base is zbook-batch-2 (#637), whose #625 rewrote parts of the same file. It retargets to main when #637 lands.

  • AMD microphones. The note said every AMD laptop has its built-in microphones on the audio coprocessor. HP's business models put them on the codec's digital-microphone input instead:
    • The EliteBook 8 G1a (board 8E17, Krackan, the ZBook 8 G1ak's sibling; linux-hardware.org probe 11a03d4d80) and the 845 G9 (linuxhw/Dmesg) show ALC245 autoconfig: inputs: Internal Mic=0x12, and no coprocessor microphone card.
    • The OMEN 16 (8A43) and Victus 15 (8A3E), which 6.18's yc/acp6x-mach.c lists for coprocessor microphones, show only Mic=0x19.
    • The bullet says both, and that no such laptop has run Kryptik yet.
  • Amplifier IDs. The way to tell a machine's kinds named only CSC3551 and TIAS2781, so a CS35L54 laptop read as having none. It now names CSC3554, CSC3556 and CSC3557 (v6.18.56 alc269.c:3143-3145, serial-multi-instantiate.c:405-410) and TXNW2781 (the same table), plus pin 0x12's default as the codec's sign of microphones.
  • The recommendation now says "AMD laptops whose microphones are on the coprocessor", as the user guide already does.

The ZBook unit itself confirms or refutes this at its first boot. If its pin 0x12 is unconnected, its microphones are on the coprocessor, and the old sentence holds for it.

…ry amplifier's ACPI ID

The note said every AMD laptop has its built-in microphones on the audio
coprocessor. HP's business models put them on the codec's digital
microphone input instead: the EliteBook 8 G1a's and 845 G9's kernel logs
show the ALC245 with "Internal Mic=0x12" and no coprocessor microphone
card, while the OMEN and Victus boards the kernel lists for coprocessor
microphones show only the jack's. The bullet says both, without claiming
a laptop that has not run Kryptik.

Its way to tell a machine's kinds named only CSC3551 and TIAS2781, so a
CS35L54 laptop read as having none. It now names CSC3554, CSC3556 and
CSC3557 (6.18's alc269.c and serial-multi-instantiate.c) and TXNW2781, and
how the codec shows its microphones: pin 0x12's default.
