Closes #2268

What

Adds cudly platform-plan get <plan-id>, a read-only command that prints an allowlisted summary of a saved purchase plan from the platform.

  • It calls the existing authenticated platform endpoint GET /api/plans/{id}, registered at internal/api/router.go:150 with the handler at internal/api/handler_plans.go:240-278 on platform main. That endpoint requires view:plans and plan access, and returns 404 for a missing plan.
  • The operator supplies a distinct platform origin and a scoped user API key. There is no admin-key fallback, and platform plan IDs are not mapped to vendor IDs.
  • The summary fields are id, name, ramp_type, updated_at, next_execution_date, last_execution_date, current_step, total_steps, enabled and auto_purchase. Raw execution history, calendar and edit data are not exposed.
  • Errors for 401/403 denial, 404, oversize responses and cancellation never echo the API key.

Commits (each <= 400 additions+deletions)

  1. feat: command and docs (351). The summary struct keeps its JSON key order, with a scoped //nolint:govet for fieldalignment.
  2. test: root dispatch, shared test helpers, and pflag as a direct dependency for go-mod-tidy (284)
  3. test: failures and bounds (154)
  4. test: root state and sticky contexts (255)

Local verification (macOS, this HEAD)

  • go build -o cudly ./cmd, go vet ./..., go test ./... and make lint (0 issues) all pass at dc43c60.
  • Tests drive the real rootCmd.ExecuteContext through an injected http.RoundTripper (no listener). They cover success, denial, not-found, bounds, privacy and context cancellation.
  • Mutation probes:
    • Removing the final ctx.Err() check fails TestPlatformPlanSuccessfulFinalReadCancellation.
    • Forcing platformPlanContainsKey to false fails TestPlatformPlanAcceptedSuccessPrivacy.
  • Synthetic responses only; no live platform was called.

Independent reviews follow as PR comments.

Explanation

Issue #2268 requires a read-only platform-plan get <id> command with table and JSON summaries. The change adds root-command dispatch, HTTPS origin and UUID validation, scoped user-key authentication, bounded response reads, redirect refusal, response validation, cancellation handling, and an allowlisted field projection. The tests cover intercepted root execution, success and error responses, bounds, privacy, repeated contexts, final-read cancellation, and table/JSON behavior. The documentation records the command limits and does not advertise an MCP tool.

Independent review A (claude-cc-libs-reviewA-2272, Sonnet, cold brief, not the author)

Reviewed SHA: 153022e
Verdict: APPROVE

Local verification (scratch worktree at this SHA, macOS):

  • go build ./cmd, go vet ./... and go test ./... pass.
  • golangci-lint v2.10.1 (Makefile pin) reports 0 issues.
  • Largest commit is 351 lines and largest file is 310, so the size rules hold.

Checked against the platform source (origin/main):

  • Summary fields: every field matches PurchasePlan (internal/config/types.go:222-246) and its RampSchedule in name, type and nullability. Dates are RFC3339Nano, and omitempty dates render as null. Unknown fields such as services and caps are ignored and never printed.
  • Auth: extractAPIKey (internal/api/middleware.go ~188-194) reads X-API-Key, and the route is AuthUser (router.go:150). The CLI sends only X-API-Key and has no admin fallback.
  • Origin validation: the CLI rejects userinfo, bad or zero ports, trailing colon, path, query, fragment, opaque URLs, empty host, %2f and http. The path is set on a parsed copy. IPv6 literals are accepted, which is fine for an operator-supplied origin.
  • Plan ID: an anchored strict UUID, checked in Args and re-checked against the response ID. The platform also validates it (handler_plans.go:242).
  • Leakage: errors are constant strings, the key is checked with NFKD folding, and response bodies are never echoed.
  • Bounds: 1 MiB limit with an overflow check, trailing JSON rejected, wrong types and negative steps rejected.
  • Test path: all tests go through rootCmd.ExecuteContext with Cobra state restored.

Mutation probes:

Mutation Result
X-API-Key changed to Authorization caught
https check weakened caught
body limit multiplied by 100 caught
redirect refusal changed to return nil caught only by the 606s package timeout

Findings:

  • Low: the redirect test should fail fast. Add a bounded assertion that no second request is issued.
  • Nit: pflag moving from indirect to direct in go.mod is correct, because the tests import it.

Make the redirect test fail on the second request instead of waiting for the deadline.

If fetchPlatformPlan stops overriding CheckRedirect, the copied client retains the test callback, which accepts every redirect. The request then runs until the 30-second command deadline. Reject requests after the first one so the regression fails immediately with a clear message.

Independent review B (claude-cc-libs-reviewB-2272, Sonnet, cold brief, not the author, independent of review A)

Reviewed SHA: 153022e
Verdict: REQUEST_CHANGES, on finding 1 only.

Local verification (scratch worktree at this SHA, macOS):

  • go build ./cmd, go vet ./... and go test ./... pass.
  • go test ./cmd -run Platform -count=3 -shuffle=on passes, so the tests do not depend on order.
  • Pinned golangci-lint reports 0 issues, and go mod tidy -diff is clean.

What was attacked:

  • CLI UX on the built binary: help matches the docs. Exit code is 1 with a clear message, no key echo and no request for each of: missing URL or key, bad UUID, missing or extra argument, http, userinfo, path, query, fragment, trailing colon, port 0 or 99999, bad --format, and connection refused.
  • Server contract (platform origin/main internal/config/types.go, handler_plans.go): updated_at is always present, next and last dates are omitempty, and the server computes the next date for enabled plans that lack one. The client handles all of this. It uses X-API-Key with no admin fallback.
  • go.mod: only pflag changes from indirect to direct, and tidy confirms it.
  • Test isolation: rootCmd context, args, writers, flags, toolCfg, the HTTP client and log sinks are restored. Env vars use t.Setenv.

Mutation probes:

Mutation Result
allow http caught by 4 tests
Authorization instead of X-API-Key caught by 4 tests
drop the returned-ID check caught
allow redirects caught only by the 600s timeout
swap ID and Name field order not caught

Findings:

  1. cmd/platform_plan_test.go:33 | medium | No test pins the user-visible JSON key order, because the assertion unmarshals into a map. The //nolint:govet at platform_plan.go:25 exists only to protect that order. Fix: assert the raw --format json key sequence.
  2. The redirect test hangs instead of failing fast | low. CodeRabbit and review A raised the same point.
  3. cmd/platform_plan_helpers_test.go:~101-110 | low | Reflection over cobra's private fields would panic if cobra renamed one. Fix: add an IsValid() guard.

All three are being fixed in one follow-up commit on this PR, together with CodeRabbit's docs fix (ri-helper becomes cudly in docs/cli/platform-plan.md:3). Both reviewers will then re-review the change.

Assert the raw --format json key sequence, fail the redirect test on the
first followed request, guard cobra private-field reflection, and name the
cudly binary in the platform-plan docs.

Review A re-review (claude-cc-libs-reviewA-2272): delta 153022e..90f9c42

Reviewed SHA: 90f9c42
Verdict: APPROVE

The delta is +28/-1 and touches only tests and docs; no production code changed. It covers the key-order test, the redirect call-count guard, the cobra field-existence guard, and the cudly docs rename.

Local verification at this SHA: go vet ./cmd, go test ./... and golangci-lint v2.10.1 (0 issues) all pass.

Probes:

  • Redirect: setting CheckRedirect to return nil now fails TestPlatformPlanContextControlsAndRedirects in 1.0s ("redirect ... was followed", platform_plan_test.go:196). Before this commit it failed only at the 606s package timeout. This resolves review A's earlier low finding.
  • Key order: renaming the id JSON tag now fails TestPlatformPlanRootSummary.

No new issues.

Review B re-review (claude-cc-libs-reviewB-2272): delta 153022e..90f9c42

Reviewed SHA: 90f9c42
Verdict: APPROVE

Local verification at this SHA: go test ./... and the pinned golangci-lint (0 issues) both pass.

Probes:

  • Field swap: swapping the ID and Name order in platformPlanSummary now fails TestPlatformPlanRootSummary immediately. Finding 1 is fixed.
  • Allow redirects: now fails TestPlatformPlanContextControlsAndRedirects after 1.00s instead of hanging. Finding 2 is fixed.
  • Missing cobra private field: produces t.Fatalf instead of a panic. Finding 3 is fixed.

The delta is +28/-1 and touches only tests and docs.

Non-blocking, already on main: the cobra root Use is ri-helper (cmd/main.go:100), while the README and Makefile name the binary cudly, and docs/cli mixes both names. This PR follows the README. One name repo-wide is a separate cleanup.

Merge gate verdict (claude-cc-libs)

Every gate holds at head 90f9c42, which is unchanged since both re-reviews:

  • Two independent reviews: A and B both APPROVE at this SHA (comments above). B's REQUEST_CHANGES at 153022e was resolved by 90f9c42, and both reviewers re-reviewed that delta.
  • Local verification at this SHA: both reviewers ran go test ./... and golangci-lint v2.10.1 (0 issues). Earlier full runs at 153022e also covered build, vet, -shuffle=on x3 and go mod tidy -diff. Responses are synthetic; no live platform was called.
  • CI: every required job is green on this SHA.
  • CodeRabbit: the incremental review at this head reports no actionable comments. Its earlier actionable comment (the cudly binary name) is fixed, and 0 threads are unresolved.
  • Mergeability: MERGEABLE/CLEAN against main 83a7193.

Agent merges are blocked by the session's auto-mode classifier, so this PR is listed for a human merge.
Merge order: this PR and #2273 both touch go.mod (different lines), and #2271 also adds a root command in cmd/. Merge them one at a time, and update the next branch and let CI pass before merging it.

Merge gate verdict (claude-cc-libs)

Every gate holds at head 90f9c42:

  • Two independent reviews approve the reviewed head 90f9c42. The branch was then updated from main, and the PR diff is byte-identical to the reviewed diff (compared mechanically).
  • CI is green on 90f9c42, which is the reviewed change on top of current main.
  • 0 unresolved threads; MERGEABLE/CLEAN.

CodeRabbit is waived as a merge gate under the 2026-10-19 decision. Squash-merging.
