refactor(gcp): one strict commitment term parser for every GCP service - #630
skumatch.TermYears is now the single term parser for GCP: case-insensitive, trimmed, accepts ""/1yr/1/12mo (1 year) and 3yr/3/36mo (3 years), errors on anything else. Compute Engine drops termYearsFromTerm and the inline 3yr branch. termPlan stays (it returns the Compute API plan enum string) but derives from TermYears; it still rejects an empty term because a purchase must name its plan.
Sites that used to map an unknown term to 1yr and now do not:
computeengine.GetOfferingDetails (inline branch): now returns an error. Callers: Client.GetOfferingDetails consumers via the common.Provider offering lookup.
computeengine.enrichRecWithPricing (termYearsFromTerm): now logs and leaves pricing unset instead of pricing as 1yr. Caller: GetRecommendations.
Also: GetOfferingDetails previously priced 36mo and mixed-case terms as 1yr; they now price correctly.
Tests: table test for TermYears (all labels incl. case/whitespace, rejects 2yr, 24mo, P1Y, abc); computeengine tests for 12mo/36mo spellings and unknown-term errors. Mutation probe (unknown defaults to 1) fails 5 tests; reverted.
Extend skumatch.TermYears with 12mo/36mo and case/whitespace tolerance and
use it in computeengine in place of termYearsFromTerm and the inline 3yr
branch. termPlan now derives from it instead of parsing strings twice.

The shared GCP term parser now accepts normalized one- and three-year terms, including month-based aliases. Compute Engine uses the parser for plan selection and pricing, and no longer defaults unsupported terms to one year.
Changes: GCP commitment term parsing
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Normalize and parse commitment terms providers/gcp/internal/skumatch/term.go, providers/gcp/internal/skumatch/term_test.go
TermYears trims whitespace, matches case-insensitively, and accepts 12mo and 36mo. Tests cover the added forms and unsupported terms.
Compute Engine uses TermYears for plan selection and pricing. GetOfferingDetails returns an error for unsupported terms, while enrichRecWithPricing logs the parsing error and skips pricing. Tests cover supported aliases and unsupported terms.
LeanerCloud/cloud-commitments-go#628: This PR keeps one-year and three-year SKU prices separate; this change supplies the parsed term years used for pricing.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 8c5bd
The change is mergeable with a bounded test-coverage gap: successful three-year offering costs are not checked by the new test.

Explanation
The title names the main change: GCP commitment-term parsing is consolidated into one strict parser shared by all GCP services. The changeset matches this. skumatch.TermYears becomes the shared parser, and Compute Engine drops its local termYearsFromTerm helper. Unknown terms now return errors instead of defaulting to one year. The title's conventional-commit prefix and 70-character length are acceptable. No vague terms are used.

Explanation
All changed files relate to the term-parsing consolidation in #15 and audit item A08b-034:
providers/gcp/internal/skumatch/term.go and term_test.go: shared parser and its tests.
providers/gcp/services/computeengine/client.go: removes termYearsFromTerm and the inline 3yr branch, and routes termPlan, GetOfferingDetails, and enrichRecWithPricing through TermYears. This matches the requested consolidation and the strict-error policy from A08b-034.
computeengine/client_test.go, plan_test.go, and pricing_test.go: tests for 12mo/36mo spellings, unknown-term errors, and the canonical plan. These support the changed behavior.
CHANGELOG.md: documents the behavior change. Documentation supporting the change is in scope.
No unrelated functional change appears in the reviewed summary. The changed-file list does not include cloudsql, memorystore, or cloudstorage. The reviewed head does not show a change to those services in this PR.

Explanation
Issue #15 requirements checked at head (whole-PR base bdec74d):
Shared helper with all six forms [#15]: Met. skumatch.TermYears (providers/gcp/internal/skumatch/term.go) trims, lowercases, and accepts "", "1yr", "1", "12mo" (1 year) and "3yr", "3", "36mo" (3 years). It returns (int, error) for other values, as proposed in the A08b-034 audit item.
Compute Engine inline branches and termYearsFromTerm removed [#15, A08b-034]: Met. client.go no longer defines termYearsFromTerm. GetOfferingDetails and enrichRecWithPricing call skumatch.TermYears. termPlan derives its plan from TermYears and still rejects an empty term. 36mo now prices as 3 years.
Cloud SQL copy and inline branch [#15]: Met by existing code. providers/gcp/services/cloudsql/client.go at head has no termYearsFromLabel. Its GetOfferingDetails calls skumatch.TermYears. The PR summary does not list cloudsql as changed, so this state predates the PR.
Memorystore and Cloud Storage copies [#15]: Not verified. The PR summary does not list these files as changed. I did not inspect providers/gcp/services/memorystore/client.go or providers/gcp/services/cloudstorage/client.go at head. I cannot establish whether termYearsFromLabel or the inline 3yr branch remains in them.
Table-driven test for the six forms [#15]: Met. providers/gcp/internal/skumatch/term_test.go covers accepted and rejected labels, including case, whitespace, 2yr, 24mo, P1Y, and abc. Compute Engine tests cover 12mo, 36mo, and unknown-term errors.
Pure refactor for current paths [#15]: Met for 1yr and 3yr. Unknown-term behavior changes in Compute Engine. This is outside the issue's pure-refactor statement, but the PR description and objectives state it. Current production paths use only 1yr or 3yr.
The unresolved uncertainty is item 4. All other requirements have code evidence at head.
Resolution
Confirm, at head, that providers/gcp/services/memorystore/client.go and providers/gcp/services/cloudstorage/client.go no longer define termYearsFromLabel or an inline 3yr/3 term branch, and that they parse terms through skumatch.TermYears. Record the result to complete the assessment.

The 36-month cases use a fixture without three-year SKUs and assert only a non-term-related error. They do not verify that GetOfferingDetails returns the correct TotalCost for 36mo or its aliases. Add three-year SKUs to a dedicated fixture, require success for each three-year spelling, and compare each result with the 3yr cost. Keep the missing-SKU error check as a separate case.

Every GCP term parse site now goes through skumatch.TermYears: the computeengine GetOfferingDetails and enrichRecWithPricing, termPlan (and through it canonicalTerm, resolveRecTerm, convert and buildInsertRequest), and the Cloud SQL, Memorystore and Cloud Storage offerings. rootPlanTerm maps the Recommender plan enums to "1yr"/"3yr", so real recommendation terms are unaffected.
Labels that main priced correctly (1yr, 1, 3yr, 3) price the same. Labels that main priced as 1yr in computeengine ("36mo", "3YR", " 3 ") now price as 3yr. Unknown terms error, or leave the monthly price unset, and are never priced as 1yr. An unknown term never reaches enrich from GetRecommendations, because convert drops the recommendation first.
Mutation probes each fail tests: dropping 36mo, dropping ToLower, defaulting unknown terms to 1yr (in TermYears, enrich or GetOfferingDetails), and removing termPlan's empty-term check. go test -race -count=1 passes in providers/gcp, with and without the workspace. Lint is clean.
Nits, not blocking: a whitespace-only term now prices as 1yr in GetOfferingDetails, the same as "". Purchase still rejects it through termPlan. OfferingID uses the raw term string, so "36mo" and "3yr" produce different IDs; "3" and "3yr" already did on main.
