Summary

The Cortex half of the 2026-09-17 ecosystem review (PyAutoMind/docs/organism/ecosystem_review_2026-09-17.md). Supersedes #31, #32 and #37, which can be closed once this lands.

  • Two births recovered: the euclid_dr1 row and a ledger opened through the cortex.py verbs from the pre-decision-60 task file on claude/euclid-dr1-birth-2026-09-11 (run 342650 open, the delivery note carried verbatim); the euclid_sersics row and ledger exactly as on claude/euclid-sersics-birth-2026-09-13.
  • ledger_merge.py: a --base diff that only adds projects.yaml rows, each paired with its projects/<key>.md in the same diff, and leaves existing rows byte-identical, is a birth — ledger. Edits/drops stay code; explicit paths keep the old verdict.
  • ledger_merge.yml: --no-commit merge; a conflict confined to the two generated pages takes main's copy (re-rendered on main); a branch that cannot land gets one ledger-merge issue per branch, closed by the run that lands it; branches already in main are deleted.
  • AGENTS.md: the birth exception; the conductor's pull (laptop) / checkin (anywhere) split (PyAutoBrain PR of the same branch name); board regenerated.

Tests

python3 -m pytest -q -n auto: 63 passed. cortex.py check: OK. Workflow YAML and run: blocks parsed/bash -n clean.

…claude/* branches

Three PRs (#31, #32, #37) sat since 2026-09-11 because a project birth
touches projects.yaml, which the merge gate rightly calls code. Carried
here: the euclid_dr1 row and a ledger opened through the verbs from the
pre-decision-60 task file on claude/euclid-dr1-birth-2026-09-11 (run 342650
open, the delivery note carried verbatim); the euclid_sersics row and ledger
exactly as on claude/euclid-sersics-birth-2026-09-13 (which supersedes the
09-11 birth branch). cortex check: OK.

projects.yaml stays code — sync_cli and local_path are executed under — but
a --base diff that only adds rows, every one paired with projects/<key>.md
added in the same diff, and leaves every existing row byte-identical, is a
project being born, which is a ledger event. Judged on content (PyYAML), so
an edited or dropped row beside a birth is still code, and explicit paths /
stdin (no content) keep the old verdict. Three birth PRs (#31, #32, #37)
sat from 2026-09-11 waiting for a human on exactly this.

…issue, delete landed branches

The merge is built with --no-commit; a conflict confined to the two
generated pages takes main's copy (dashboard_refresh.yml re-renders on main)
instead of stranding the ledger, anything else still waits for a human. A
branch that cannot land is written on one `ledger-merge` issue per branch,
updated on every attempt and closed by the run that lands it. A branch found
already in main is deleted like a freshly merged one (38 stood on
2026-09-17). Cortex-side docs for the conductor's pull/checkin split.
