First durable Insight check-in, checkins/2026-10-17T111853Z.md, following CHECKIN.md, plus the clean-slate reframing the human decided in the Insight chat on 2026-10-17.

Human decisions (Insight chat, 2026-10-17)

  • "Let's do this as a fresh start we did kind of start a campaign but weve done lots of improvements since warranting a clean slate."
  • (1) Clean slate: "Yes, supersede and re-run on the pin"
  • (2) CPU backend: "jax_cpu, dense + sparse"
  • (3) Light mode: "Fix lens light to ordinary profiles"
  • (4) Test fix: "Yes, relax the two assertions"

What changes

  • slam-hst-base and slam-hst-delaunay: status superseded by hst-imaging-mass-samplers. The six 2026-09-24 re-run arrays (350674, 350675, 350678, 350679 on gpu; 350682, 350684 on ral) are recorded as COMPLETED 0:0 per sacct queried 2026-10-17T11:10Z, and their 12 rows stay as history in autolens_inference PR #23. No further run under those campaigns.
  • hst-imaging-mass-samplers (needs-slicing): a clean slate. The Nautilus base is re-measured from scratch on PyAuto release 2026.10.17.1 (PyAutoLens tag v2026.10.17.1) in fresh output trees: A100 jax_gpu dense and sparse, ral jax_cpu dense and sparse, seeds 0 and 1, slam_base (rect 28x28, Adapt). mass_total[1] runs in two light modes: linear lens light solved in the inversion, and lens light fixed to ordinary profiles with intensities from the light[1] fit. numba_cpu is not in this campaign. Phase 1 is a bounded runner change via Mind start_dev (not started); phase 2 compute needs separate authorisation.
  • Task contracts rewritten: tasks/hst_mass_base_light_modes.md (needs-slicing) and tasks/hst_mass_samplers_wave1.md (needs-slicing). drop_1e3_prior_centring_after_631 keeps its campaign and status; its next step notes it is carried into phase 1 as a prior-identity question.
  • Check-in report records the decisions and the supersession; last_checkin / last_checkin_report set to the report.
  • tests/test_campaigns.py::test_current_ledger_and_migration_validate: two migration-era assertions relaxed per decision (4). last_checkin is None now also accepts a stamp whose last_checkin_report names an existing file; every job_status must be non-empty instead of starting with "unknown". Nothing else in tests changed.
  • Board regenerated (dashboard.md, dashboard.html).

The other six campaigns were not re-inspected this sweep; their rows are unchanged. Execution completion is not scientific acceptance. Compute submitted: none.

Checks

  • bin/pyauto-insight board --offline: ok
  • bin/pyauto-insight check --offline: OK
  • ruff check ., ruff format --check .: pass
  • python -m pytest tests -q: 204 passed

…-imaging-mass-samplers campaign

First durable check-in (checkins/2026-10-17T111853Z.md). slam-hst-base and
slam-hst-delaunay record the six 2026-09-24 re-runs as COMPLETED per sacct
queried 2026-10-17 and link the row landing PR autolens_inference#23. Opens
the needs-decision campaign hst-imaging-mass-samplers with two task contracts
(hst_mass_base_light_modes, hst_mass_samplers_wave1). No compute submitted.

Known: tests/test_campaigns.py::test_current_ledger_and_migration_validate
asserts the migration-era ledger (last_checkin null, every job_status
"unknown"), which the first check-in necessarily changes; the test is not
edited here.

…e SLaM HST campaigns, relax migration-era test

Human decisions in the Insight chat on 2026-10-17: fresh start, supersede and
re-run on the pin (PyAuto 2026.10.17.1), jax_cpu dense + sparse for the CPU
base, lens light fixed to ordinary profiles as the second light mode, and relax
the two migration-era assertions in test_current_ledger_and_migration_validate.

slam-hst-base and slam-hst-delaunay are superseded; hst-imaging-mass-samplers
is needs-slicing with phase 1 via Mind start_dev. No compute submitted.
