[TASK] Add the rules for manual backport pull requests - #641
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Backports made by hand were not marked the way the automatic backport marks its own. A pull request against 14.3 with the label "backport 14.3" made the automatic backport try to cherry-pick it into 14.3 again, and it failed. A pull request for main was merged while the review of its manual backport, opened at the same time, was still going on, so a follow-up was needed. The page now says to open a manual backport only after the original pull request is merged, and to mark it like an automatic backport, with the title, the description, and the full Releases line. It also says never to put "backport <version>" on a pull request against that version, and to put "backport-required" on the main pull request when the backport has to be made by hand.
