Adds an Ambassador chat command, reloadconfig, so operators of a portable (Windows) profile can apply edits to profile.json or the environment file from Discord, without shell access.

How it works

  • The command writes a one-use reload.request marker in the profile's state directory and stops the bot gracefully (Civ13::stop()).
  • scripts/windows/control.php start now loops: when the child exits and the marker is present, it reloads the profile, reruns assertRoot, preflight and DefaultBranchGuard::verify, then relaunches. A broken edit stops the loop with an error instead of crash-looping.
  • A stale marker is cleared at start, and a pending stop.request takes precedence over a reload.
  • portable_state_dir is a new string option (empty outside portable mode), set by PortableProfile::runtimeOptions. Outside portable mode the command replies that it is unavailable.

Testing

  • All portable CI files pass locally on Windows (PHP 8.5): constructor.php (and both controls; the cache control skips on Windows), portable.php, adminlist-files.php, native-lifecycle.php, bootstrap.php (and its control), process.php, shell-guard.php, ready.php (all three modes). default-branch.php and hosted-verifier.php were not run.
  • process.php now also checks the reload marker is one-use and rejects a duplicate request.
  • Not yet exercised against a live Discord session: the command, stop and relaunch path end to end. PortableProcess.php already fails php-cs-fixer on master; the additions follow its existing style.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Authorized operators can use reloadconfig on portable profiles to reload configuration. The bot stops and reconnects after the request, and reports when reloading is unavailable or cannot proceed.
    • Before relaunching, the bot rechecks the profile and startup requirements, then rereads the profile and environment settings. Reload requests are handled once; a pending stop request takes precedence.
  • Documentation
    • Added Windows guidance for requesting and completing a configuration reload.

Ambassadors can run reloadconfig to reread the portable profile and
environment file without shell access. The command writes a one-use
reload.request marker in the profile state directory and stops the bot;
control.php start relaunches it after rechecking the profile, preflight and
source. A stale marker is cleared at start and a pending stop request wins.
Outside portable mode the command reports that it is unavailable.

Walkthrough

The change adds the reloadconfig command and a one-use reload marker. On Windows, control.php supervises the bot process and relaunches it after a requested reload if profile checks and preflight pass.

Changes: Portable Configuration Reload

Layer / File(s) Summary
Portable state and reload marker
src/Civ13/Civ13.php, src/Civ13/PortableProfile.php, src/Civ13/PortableProcess.php, tests/windows/process.php
Civ13 accepts the portable state directory, and PortableProfile passes it to runtime options. PortableProcess creates and consumes one-use reload markers. The Windows process test covers missing, duplicate, and consumed markers.
Reload command
src/Civ13/MessageCommand/Commands/ReloadConfig.php, src/Civ13/MessageServiceManager.php
The reloadconfig command reports when reload is unavailable or a request fails. On success, it replies that the bot will reconnect and stops the bot when the reply promise settles. The command requires the Ambassador role.
Windows restart supervision
scripts/windows/control.php, bot.php, docs/windows-test1714.md
control.php clears stale markers before starting, then consumes a reload marker after the child exits. It relaunches only when no stop request is pending and profile checks and preflight pass. The stop handler consumes a pending reload marker. The documentation describes the profile and environment reread.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/windows-test1714.md: Documents that reloadconfig writes a one-use marker and stops the bot, after which control.php start relaunches it and rereads the profile and environment file following profile and source checks. Start clears stale markers; pending stop requests take precedence.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/Civ13/Civ13.php: Added the public portable_state_dir property, initialized to an empty string.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/Civ13/Civ13.php: The constructor assigns the portable_state_dir option to the new property, defaulting to an empty string when the option is absent.
  • observed — Modified behavior in src/Civ13/Civ13.php: resolveOptions now accepts portable_state_dir as a defined option.

- control.php start takes the instance lock before clearing a stale reload
marker, so a second start refuses instead of deleting a live instance's
  pending reload.
- The bot's stop.request handler cancels any pending reload before stopping,
so the supervisor never relaunches after a stop.
- reloadconfig refuses while a stop is pending and stops the bot whether or
not the Discord reply succeeds, so the marker cannot linger.

Protect the reload handoff with the instance lock.

When the child stops before the one-second stop timer consumes reload.request, the marker remains until control.php handles it. After proc_close($process), a concurrent control.php start can acquire the released lock and consume that marker during startup cleanup. If child creation then fails, the original supervisor sees no reload marker and does not relaunch the bot. Coordinate this post-exit consume/stop-check handoff with startup cleanup.

After the child exits, control.php now takes the instance lock before
consuming reload.request and checking stop.request, so a concurrent start
cannot take the marker in between. If another instance already holds the
lock, this supervisor stands down instead of relaunching.

Addresses the remaining CodeRabbit comment on #35.
