- Around line 180-186: Update the APIError handling around errors. As so every
*bitbucket.APIError maps away from the generic 500 response: return
StatusServiceUnavailable with the existing rate-limit message for
StatusTooManyRequests, and StatusBadGateway for all other API errors. Update the
“upstream 429” test expectation to assert 503.
- Line 157: In the error-handling switch of the management handler, replace
err.Error() with fixed non-sensitive messages for webhooks.ErrNotBitbucketRepo
(422) and projects.ErrNotFound (404), using the expected repository and
project-not-found wording. Leave the 501 branch unchanged and update the 422
classifier test expectation accordingly.
Review comments at @internal/webhooks/management.go:
- Around line 282-289: Update findMatchingHook to match a hook only when its URL
equals webhookURL and its Events includes repoPushEvent. Keep scanning hooks
when the URL matches but the managed push event is absent, so Register,
Unregister, and registration checks operate only on the managed push hook.
Review comments at @pkg/bitbucket/client.go:
- Around line 33-36: Update NewClient to use a dedicated http.Client with a
bounded timeout instead of http.DefaultClient. Add a named default timeout
constant using time.Duration, import time, and preserve the existing baseURL
normalization and client initialization behavior.

The 422 and 404 branches of classifyWebhookError returned err.Error(). ErrNotBitbucketRepo wraps the project's repository URL verbatim (internal/webhooks/management.go), and a project URL may carry credentials, so the raw error echoed user input back to the client. Return fixed messages instead and add a regression test that asserts the URL is not part of the 422 response body.
classifyWebhookError only mapped *bitbucket.APIError to 502 for transport failures and 5xx responses. Any other upstream status, e.g. 429 rate limiting or a 400 rejecting the hook payload, fell through to the generic 500 response, so clients and monitoring saw an internal server fault for an upstream API failure. Map 429 to 503 and every other APIError to 502, and document the new 503 response in the swagger annotations of all three endpoints.
findMatchingHook matched by callback URL only, so a hook on the same URL without the repo:push event was reported as registered, overwritten by Register and deleted by Unregister. Require the managed push event on the matched hook and keep scanning the remaining hooks when the URL matches but the event does not, so all three operations target only the managed push hook.
The Bitbucket client used http.DefaultClient, which has no timeout, and the handlers pass the fasthttp RequestCtx as context, whose Done channel only closes on server shutdown. A stalled upstream therefore blocked the admin request indefinitely, and ListHooks issues up to ten sequential requests. Replace it with the shared httpfx client, whose timeout comes from the new HTTP_CLIENT__TIMEOUT setting (30s by default), and inject that client into pkg/bitbucket instead of creating one inside the package.
The OAuth service used http.DefaultClient, which has no timeout, for the Bitbucket token exchange and refresh calls. Inject the shared httpfx client instead, so those calls use the same bounded, configurable timeout as the rest of the outbound HTTP traffic.

Review follow-up
The four findings from the first review round are addressed:
314d653) — the 422 and 404 branches return fixed messages instead oferr.Error(). A project repository URL is user supplied and may carry credentials, so it is no longer returned to the client.d9ee8f6) —*bitbucket.APIErrormaps to 503 for rate limiting and to 502 for every other upstream status, instead of falling through to a generic 500.90f2e50) —findMatchingHookrequires therepo:pushevent, so a hook on the same URL without it is no longer reported as registered, updated or deleted.eeccbdc,e3a8c75) — the Bitbucket client and the Bitbucket OAuth token calls use the sharedhttpfxclient. The timeout comes from the newHTTP_CLIENT__TIMEOUTsetting (30s by default).Deferred on purpose
Registerstill replaces the event list of a matched hook with["repo:push"]. A hook on our callback URL that carries additional events, for examplerepo:pushpluspullrequest:created, therefore loses the extra ones when it is re-registered. Preserving them would change what a re-register does to a hook an operator may have extended deliberately, so it is left out of this change and recorded here instead.Lint status
The
Lintcheck fails on this branch for a repository-wide reason that this pull request does not introduce: CI runsgolangci-lintwithversion: latest, and v2.15.0 rejects thelinters.settings.exhaustive.checkvaluemapin.golangci.yml, soconfig verifyfails before any code is analysed. The config was last changed in[webauthn] initial supportand is not part of this diff. The fix already exists onwebhooks/commit-project-references(PR #50, commit99d98f3), which updates the config and fixes the wrapcheck findings in the pre-existing handlers. This branch will be rebased on master once #50 lands; the new test files will then needt.Parallel()to satisfy theparalleltestlinter that #50 enables.Summary by CodeRabbit
