feat(ui): a Baselines page and a device's baseline - #1245
Implement: done Review: complete (2 rounds + 6 fix-checks; R4 ca0154d, R5 e54b1e9, R6 1daac16) Hardware: pass — full lane on 4e6d465 (7 files, 53/53); slow-baseline on ca0154d; iOS slow-baseline (app installed and launched on a copy) and slow-ios-smoke (Safari container under the lease's own UDID) on 1daac16 Gate: running
Next: gate merges the stack
An operator leases a device, installs an app on it, and saves it as a baseline. The lease ends. simlock baseline list shows it with its platform, model, OS, mode, version and size. — fast tests in feat(baselines): save, list and remove baselines from held leases #1235 (dispatcher, CLI); on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts passed in the stack's final hardware run (full lane on 4e6d465, 53/53; slow-baseline again on ca0154d, 2/2; 2026-11-04)
simlock lease --platform <platform> --baseline <name> is granted a device with that app installed. The agent installs nothing. — fast tests in feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236; on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts passed in the stack's final hardware run (full lane on 4e6d465, 53/53; slow-baseline again on ca0154d, 2/2; 2026-11-04)
After that lease is released, the next lease naming the baseline gets a device with the app installed and without any file or setting the previous lease changed. — fast tests in feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 (fake driver copies); on real devices: e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts iOS and Android file steps passed in the stack's final hardware run (full lane on 4e6d465, 53/53; slow-baseline again on ca0154d, 2/2; 2026-11-04)
A lease with no baseline never receives a device made from one, and a lease naming one never receives a plain device or another baseline's device, even while one sits idle. — feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 "devices never cross pools" test
A --baseline with a model, OS, mode or image tag the baseline was not made for fails at once, naming the mismatch. An unknown name fails at once. A stale baseline fails at once, naming why. — feat(leasing): a lease names a baseline and gets a copy of it #1236 dispatcher and domain tests (BASELINE_MISMATCH, UNKNOWN_BASELINE, BASELINE_STALE)
pnpm exec vitest run --project unit ui/src/model/baselines.test.ts ui/src/app/routes.test.ts ui/src/state/queries.test.ts passes. — run by the build and the audit (24/24)
pnpm test:console --project=chromium e2e/console/baselines.spec.ts e2e/console/shell.spec.ts e2e/console/views.spec.ts e2e/console/long-lists.spec.ts e2e/console/sign-in.spec.ts e2e/console/proxy-sign-in.spec.ts e2e/console/inbox.spec.ts passes. — run by the build and the audit (88 passed); the R2 fix run reran baselines.spec.ts
pnpm test:console --project=chromium e2e/console/big-fleet.spec.ts passes, in its own command (about 62 s per page, eight pages). — run by the audit in its own command (8.3 min)
The sidebar shows Baselines in the Operate group after Queue, in routes.ts, ui/AGENTS.md and DESIGN.md alike. — audit; ui/src/app/routes.test.ts
website/src/content/docs/docs/worker/console.mdx has a Baselines section and the drawer's Baseline fact; fleet-console.mdx says the gateway adds the Worker column. — claims review rounds 1 and 2

Website page rewrite 8292d16 (worker/baselines.mdx only): claims check waived by the maintainer (2026-11-04); verified by: coordinator against reference/cli.mdx and reference/errors.mdx.
R5 (untagged Android save recorded no image tag) fixed at e54b1e9; R6 (iOS copies kept the source's LaunchServices database, so apps resolved to the source's folder) fixed at 13d9cf9 + 1daac16. Both found in the maintainer's manual test; fix-checks clean.

The console adds a read-only Baselines page with formatted, paged rows, gateway worker labels, and stale status. Baseline events invalidate baseline data, with polling as a fallback. Device drawers show a baseline name and version when available. Android disposal leaves the adb server and its record in place when an emulator is attached; otherwise, it stops the server. Android provisioning can copy a ready baseline source. Directory sizing treats files that disappear during traversal as zero bytes. The change also updates navigation, documentation, and automated coverage.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to 4e6d4
A failed cleanup can leave an emulator running and disrupt later tests. Existing Android lifecycle and baseline-display concerns also remain open; resolve or explicitly accept these risks before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 4e6d4
The changes affect saved device state and shared Android process lifetimes. Inspected paths retain device-specific copies and scoped Android commands, and no introduced security vulnerability was established. Interrupted-copy recovery and failed-cleanup behavior remain only partially verified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The inspected security-relevant scope includes saved guest state in baseline-derived copies and the emulator fleet attached to one configured adb server. Server disposal is shared across those attached emulators, whereas each source-derived device receives its own filesystem destination. Tenant-wide or cross-environment exposure was not established.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The retained server uses existing containment settings: the shared adb port 5037 is rejected, server startup disables USB and mDNS discovery and requests emulator-scan suppression, and driver commands select the configured adb port and owned AVD root. Process termination checks the recorded process command before signaling it; this does not establish stronger identity verification during adoption.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The hardware test adds a finally cleanup attempt but suppresses cleanup errors and does not establish successful cleanup of its final lease. The base already left that final lease without an explicit release, so this is incomplete failure-containment evidence, not proof that the PR introduced the underlying leak.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "feat(ui): a Baselines page and a device's baseline" matches the main change. The changeset adds a read-only Baselines page (BaselinesScreen, route, sidebar entry, state and model files) and a Baseline fact in the device drawer, which the title names directly. The title is specific and short, and it uses the conventional type-scope prefix.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The PR satisfies the coding requirements in [#1209]. ui/src/app/routes.ts adds /baselines after Queue. ui/src/screens/baselines/index.tsx renders ordered, paged rows, gateway workers, stale details, and the empty state. ui/src/state/baselines.ts, ui/src/state/queries.ts, and ui/src/model/stale-keys.ts provide daemon-based gateway handling, polling, and event invalidation. ui/src/screens/fleet/device-drawer.tsx shows the baseline name and version only when present. The model, route, state, browser, and navigation tests cover the requested behavior. The UI guidance, design documentation, and worker and gateway website pages are updated. The page has no save or remove actions.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The PR includes changes outside [#1209]. src/drivers/android/index.ts, src/drivers/android/adb-server.ts, and related tests and documentation change Android disposal and baseline-source provisioning. src/ports/filesystem.ts changes directory-size error handling. e2e/slow-baseline.test.ts, other slow Android tests, and e2e/helpers/* change device and teardown infrastructure. These changes implement baseline-stack, hardware, and harness behavior. [#1209] requests a read-only console page and explicitly excludes lease or device changes.
Resolution
Move the Android driver, filesystem, hardware baseline, and teardown-harness changes to the pull request that owns those changes. Keep the Baselines page, device drawer fact, related UI tests, navigation changes, and documentation updates in this pull request. Re-run the focused [#1209] validation after the split.

Key baseline rows by worker ID.
35-35: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Key baseline rows by worker ID.
If two workers share a label and each has a baseline with the same name, workerOf produces the same display name for both. Line 35 then gives both rows the same key. DataTable uses that key as its row ID and React key, so updates can reuse the wrong row identity. Build the key from entry.workerId and entry.name; keep the label for display and sorting. The gateway already supplies the worker ID, and worker labels are not constrained to be unique. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Use the wide layout for Baselines.
38-45: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Use the wide layout for Baselines.
The table remains in its fixed multi-column layout from 768px through 1099px, where ten or eleven columns can be difficult to scan. This does not violate the 360px no-sideways-scroll requirement, but wide enables the intended labelled-row layout for tablet widths.

55-60: Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Show a distinguishing identifier when worker labels collide.
Worker labels are not unique. When two gateway workers use the same label, the Worker column shows the same value for both workers and hides their IDs. Include the worker ID for duplicate labels so an operator can identify the worker that holds each baseline.

Update workerOf to distinguish workers with duplicate labels: when the matching
worker’s label is shared by another worker, include its ID in the displayed
value. Preserve the current ID fallback for unknown workers and the existing
label display when labels are unique.

Prevent the disposal probe from starting an unrecorded adb server.
When the recorded adb server has died, adb devices can start a new server on the effective adb endpoint. leave() does not make that server adoptable because it retains the stale record, while start() rejects an occupied endpoint unless the record names a live process. Query the existing server through a method that cannot auto-start adb, and add coverage for a dead recorded pid followed by disposal and a subsequent create().

Update the disposal probe in the Android driver’s leave flow so it queries the
existing adb server without allowing the command to start a new server; preserve
the existing endpoint and environment selection. Add coverage for a dead
recorded adb pid followed by disposal and a subsequent create, verifying the
probe leaves no unrecorded server or occupied endpoint.

…he first one kept (#1209)
A slow-lane run (20261103-195927) kept an empty daemon.log: the Android suite's teardown failed on rm (ENOTEMPTY, an emulator still writing into the home), the file's afterAll tore the same home down again, and its copy replaced the full log with the one written after the first rm.
…, so a device that never turns ready fails on what it last saw (#1209)
The hook's 300 s was shorter than DEVICE_READY_MS (330 s), so the two TTL/kill-restart failures ended on a bare hook timeout with no observed device state.
The 60-second socket wait is followed by up to 20 seconds for process exit and 45 seconds for iOS device-set cleanup. These waits can exceed the e2e hook's 120-second limit, causing a hook failure before cleanup finishes. Increase the hook limit to cover the combined budget. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Keep the selected baseline source and spec consistent.
Baseline replacement accepts the held device's model and OS as a new version. The warm pool updates only baseline.version, so a learned kind can retain the old model and OS. DeviceProvisioner.#claim then captures the new sourceId but keeps those stale fields in requested. Android copies the new source at AndroidDriver.provision without resolving the spec again, and registerDevice records the stale spec.
Revalidate the requested spec against the current baseline before passing the source to the driver. Reject or re-resolve when the baseline model or OS changed. Line 1431 is not the correction site because the driver receives both values from core.

Recheck source freshness before copying.
If the emulator or image changes before the stored stale status is refreshed, the coordinator accepts the old status and this code copies the stale source. Limit concurrent seed-file writes in the remove-home test to avoid exhausting
file descriptors, and move directory creation and seed setup inside the try
block so cleanup still runs if setup fails. Preserve the existing writer
behavior and ensure the writer promise is safely initialized and awaited during
cleanup.

Increase the 120-second teardown hook budgets.
The e2e project and several slow-test hooks still use 120 seconds. Their sequential cleanup can exceed that limit through the 60-second socket wait, PID verification, and removeHome retries, before optional iOS cleanup is included. Increase the project timeout and the explicit 120-second overrides. Leave the existing 240- and 420-second hooks unchanged.

Increase the e2e project timeout and explicit 120-second teardown hook overrides
to accommodate sequential cleanup, including removeHome retries and optional iOS
cleanup. Locate the project timeout and affected teardown hooks; preserve their
existing cleanup behavior and leave hooks already set to 240 or 420 seconds
unchanged.

Check whether nuke completed before teardown.
If nuke exits with a nonzero code, env.cli() still resolves, so .catch() does not detect the failure. The test can pass while teardown removes its home and leaves an emulator running. Check the result’s code, and report or recover from failed cleanup without hiding the original test failure. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
