Summary

Adds hermetic unit tests for devsyconfig.Read and readConfig, which had no coverage. Test-only change: one new file, pkg/devsyconfig/config_test.go (+102/−0).

Why

Read decides which platform credentials a workspace sees. The tests pin the behavior that matters most:

  • Lookups are scoped to context and provider. A config saved for one (context, provider) pair must not be returned for another (TestReadScopesConfigToContextAndProvider).
  • A missing config returns an empty config, not an error (TestReadReturnsEmptyConfigWhenProviderConfigMissing).
  • Malformed JSON and a directory at the config path return errors, not empty credentials (TestReadRejectsMalformedPlatformConfig, TestReadFailsWhenConfigPathIsDirectory).

Red check: temporarily changed the missing-file branch of readConfig to return an error. TestReadReturnsEmptyConfigWhenProviderConfigMissing and TestReadScopesConfigToContextAndProvider failed. Reverted; product files unchanged.

Validation (head 7fa161f)

  • go test -race -count=3 ./pkg/devsyconfig/: pass
  • golangci-lint run --allow-serial-runners ./pkg/devsyconfig/...: 0 issues
  • gofmt -l pkg/devsyconfig: clean
  • mise run cli:lint:ci: exit 0
  • prek run --all-files: all hooks passed, including golangci-lint-fmt, except golangci-lint (exit 3, "parallel golangci-lint is running", a machine-level guard). prek run golangci-lint --all-files on retry: passed (exit 0).
  • mise run cli:format (golangci-lint fmt ./...) was started and killed before completing. Format coverage comes from the passing golangci-lint-fmt prek hook above.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Added coverage for configuration loading, including missing, persisted, context-specific, malformed, and invalid-path scenarios.
    • Improved test isolation by using temporary configuration environments.

Add hermetic tests for devsyconfig.Read: missing config returns an empty config, persisted config decodes, lookups are scoped per context and provider, and malformed JSON or a directory at the config path returns an error.

Add an AccessKey assertion to the scoping test.

The fixture only sets Host, and the alternate results check only Host. A regression could return an AccessKey from another context or provider while this test still passes. Include an accesskey in the fixture and compare each alternate result with &client.Config{}. readConfig returns that exact empty config when the scoped file is missing, so the full-config comparison matches the missing-config contract.

CodeRabbit nitpick disposition: the AccessKey/full-config assertion is a reasonable optional coverage extension, deferred from this PR. Current readConfig selects one path using both workspace context and provider, then unmarshals that entire file without per-field merging. Reading the wrong scoped fixture therefore returns its nonempty Host and already fails TestReadScopesConfigToContextAndProvider. The missing-file empty-config contract is separately asserted. No current credential-leak defect is present. Issue: none. Type: Tests. AI assistance: Haiku authored the tests; coordinator reviewed the final diff, code, hermetic setup, validation and reviewer findings. No human reviewer attestation is claimed. CLI review has zero findings; GitHub CI is green and Greptile is 5/5 on 7fa161f.

CodeRabbit docstring-coverage warning disposition: no change. The added functions are test cases and private test helpers with descriptive names; no public product API was added. Maintenance code-style step 3b requires self-documenting tests and avoids comments that repeat code, so blanket docstrings would add redundant commentary. Required lint and formatting checks passed without them.
