Summary

Repair the #518 fixture identities, the native PID publication race in #520, and the physical-test ownership gap in #521. Planning #517 and nold-ai/specfact-cli#770 remain untouched.

The seven original physical broker tests now have one explicit native owner. Each existing macOS/ABI cell must admit all 702 R100 outcomes before candidate preparation and receipt writing. Normal delivered bytes remain exact. A separate private source copy builds the signed stalled-startup fixture with the unchanged build script. Failure reports remain bounded and inspectable, and cleanup owns only its process group under the existing deadlines.

Customer CLI help starts without loading the candidate proof adapter. Its subprocess regression observes actual import events and works in valid project interpreters whether the code-review namespace is present or absent. Candidate physical proof remains mandatory inside the admitted runtime.

Portable tests and frozen PID consumers remain intact. Optional compatibility-observation failures preserve authoritative preparation, exits, and cleanup. Integration keeps the paired core, the ordinary full suite requires exact core 0.55.4, and smoke launchers keep the reviewed lock.

No native C asset, production dependency, capability, timeout, repetition count, signature policy, protected authority, or indexed orchestrator is relaxed. Approved local Darwin capsule review reports DEFERRED, never PASS, and still requires exact-head hosted Linux review.

Verified local evidence

  • Signed test checkpoint precedes implementation. Original physical definitions, frozen corpus, and PID files are preserved.
  • Historical c364 local native operation passes all 702 unique cases with zero failures, errors, or skips. Missing stall, changed normal bytes, and stock-as-stall each refuse in separate real controls. This uses an authenticated historical parent archive and does not replace current-head hosted acceptance.
  • Historical c364 released-core 0.55.4 full recipe passes all 1,033 host proofs, then 5,771 ordinary tests and 95 subtests. It retains 62 explicit selection skips and five warnings from unchanged test sites.
  • The current startup correction has a real original-source RED, one exact-test GREEN and 230 focused passes under native Hatch 1.18.1/released core 0.55.4. The pre/post actual CLI matrix distinguishes candidate proof imports in both declared environments. The public hosted failure does not disclose which old assertion failed.
  • Current normal staged and signed hooks pass, including 28 fresh contracts. Strict OpenSpec and the real staged Requirements CLI pass for nine requirements at planned/proposal-only maturity. Raw existing warnings and the optional Darwin pip consistency failure remain visible. Independent review approves the exact bounded correction with no actionable findings.
  • Independent review approves the exact bounded implementation. Authors and reviewers were explicitly stopped before signing. Raw .audit/ evidence is excluded from commits.

The ci03 evidence, ci04 evidence, and ci05 evidence separate actual proof, retained failures, setup diagnostics, and remaining acceptance.

Required current-head gates

  • Candidate and independent capsule jobs pass, including the unresolved both-side Z3/controller compatibility boundary.
  • Quality matrix, complete hosted ordinary suite, and smoke launchers pass.
  • All nine native cells, actual 702-case outcomes, and existing delivered/customer checks pass.
  • Actual current-head code and security reviews converge without unresolved findings.

The previous independent capsule observation established a Z3 version inequality on both base and head against the sealed reference. It did not disclose hosted target versions or establish a dependency repair. No deterministic retry or speculative runtime relaxation is included. Publication does not establish merge readiness. No automatic merge is authorized.

🔀 Multi-repo context nold-ai/specfact-cli

Linked repositories findings

nold-ai/specfact-cli — inspected PR #770 ref c618fe7

  • ci/runtime-smoke-fixture.lock.json:1-4 defines the exact repository, commit, and tree fields consumed by the modules workflow. scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py:191-200 independently verifies all three identities and a clean checkout. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • The pinned baseline d579970… is version 0.55.4 with tree f49667…; its pyproject.toml:227-237 defines test = "pytest {args}". It intentionally does not contain ci/runtime-smoke-fixture.lock.json, so smoke validation must remain tied to the paired core checkout rather than the baseline. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • A broad search found no SPECFACT_CLI_REPO references in this core ref. That variable is therefore not a core runtime API; it must be interpreted by the modules repository’s bootstrap tooling. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

nold-ai/specfact-cli-modules — PR #519 head 7f127381…

  • .github/workflows/pr-orchestrator.yml reads the paired core’s smoke lock, validates lowercase 40-character identities, verifies commit/tree/cleanliness, relocates the fixture to ${RUNNER_TEMP}, and passes it explicitly to the unchanged smoke launcher. This matches the core lock/verifier contract.
  • The workflow sets SPECFACT_CLI_REPO only for Full Test Suite, after installing the paired core and verifying baseline commit/tree. src/specfact_cli_modules/dev_bootstrap.py:90-105 confirms that ensure_core_dependency resolves this variable and reinstalls the selected checkout when the active core differs, so the baseline handoff is functionally supported rather than merely documented.
  • The baseline identity is checked against both commit and tree before hatch run test, preserving the intended separation between paired-core checks and the immutable 0.55.4 full-suite baseline.
🔇 Additional comments: 3
tests/unit/native_release/test_acceptance.py: 1

99-115: Importtime parsing and the static-analysis hint need no change. Line 114 does carry a small stability risk.

The subprocess.run call at Lines 98-106 uses a fixed argument list. It uses sys.executable and a constant module name. No request data reaches it, so the subprocess-from-request hint is a false positive.

Line 114 asserts scripts.native_release.platforms appears in the -X importtime output. The test also parses the import time: lines, so it depends on the CPython stderr format. The format is self | cumulative | name. The format has been stable on Python 3.11+, the repository's minimum version. The assertion also confirms that the real acceptance import chain runs, and Line 115 correctly proves native_execution_proof is not imported. This is the actual observation the PR intends.

No change is needed.

📝 Summary

Summary

  • CI now verifies paired-core and runtime-smoke fixture identities.
  • The full suite uses immutable core 0.55.4.
  • Capsule-review deferral requires an immutable policy commit, an external host Python, and exact indexed workflow bytes.
  • Host proofs cover fixture identity, bounded diagnostics, installed-source integrity, producer categories, and native compatibility.
  • Native PID consumers use a bounded five-second reader for complete positive newline records.
  • Native release acceptance requires all 702 R100 outcomes and owned-process cleanup.
  • OpenSpec changes ci-03-quality-fixture-identities, ci-04-native-pid-observation, and ci-05-native-test-ownership document requirements and scenarios.
  • Exact-head hosted review, native acceptance, and other hosted gates remain outstanding.

Module and release impact

  • No bundle commands, adapters, bridge/runtime behavior, or specfact_cli APIs changed.
  • No module-package.yaml, semver, module payload, registry, signature, or package-integrity changes were found.
  • No cross-repository code or import-contract changes were found.
  • No changes to modules.specfact.io, GitHub Pages, the documentation URL contract, or CHANGELOG were found.

The pull request separates CI fixture identities, hardens local review deferral, expands bounded review evidence, validates native PID publication, and adds native execution proof requirements and artifacts.

Published signed follow-up 413f8f1. The new validator now has seven capsule-safe unit cases and a narrowly qualified coverage source. Real pytest-cov records all 18 statements and four branches; the native adapter no longer reports missing coverage. Existing coverage sources, thresholds and exclusions are unchanged. Fixture and diagnostic refactors address the current-head complexity/style findings without removing cases. All 157 focused tests, explicit source analyzers, strict OpenSpec, native planned Requirements, independent review, normal hooks and signed commit hooks passed locally. Hosted checks on this exact head remain required; the local review is still DEFERRED.

Make the schedule-mutation test validate the intended property

Every mutation case serializes the workflow with yaml.safe_dump before staging it. PyYAML does not preserve the workflow's comments or source formatting, so the indexed bytes differ from the reviewed SHA before the mutation is relevant. The assertions then check only rejection and deferral state. They do not show that the selected mutation caused rejection.

Collapse the matrix to one unmutated round-trip control plus the existing direct byte-pin cases. If the mutations document semantic guards, keep them only with mutation-specific assertions. The restore_schedule=True cases do not change this, because restoration occurs after staging.

Linked repositories findings

nold-ai/specfact-cli

Inspected detached c618fe7, the branch for open PR #770—not the default branch.

  • Runtime smoke accepts the dedicated SPECFACT_SMOKE_MODULES_REPO and verifies the lock’s repository, commit, tree, and clean working tree before execution (scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py:159-205). The core fixture action exports this variable after checking commit 046d366c… and tree c5b44db… (.github/actions/setup-runtime-smoke-fixture/action.yml:7-36). The modules workflow’s relocated fixture must preserve this exact contract. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • Core test setup consumes SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO, but has no SPECFACT_CLI_REPO consumer (tests/conftest.py:28-54). Hatch’s test commands invoke pytest directly (pyproject.toml:373-375). Thus the new full-suite SPECFACT_CLI_REPO override must be handled by the modules repository’s test harness; it is not automatically recognized by core tests. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • This PR #770 checkout reports core version 0.55.10 (pyproject.toml:7, src/specfact_cli/__init__.py:79), while the reviewed PR intends an immutable 0.55.4 full-suite baseline. The separately checked-out baseline must therefore remain distinct from the paired core used for integration and smoke checks. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

Published signed head 2edcefd5c88a7e5d79b16572d4001fb5efa4032d after fresh independent review and normal signed hooks. The caller-selected immutable checker closes the coordinated workflow/pin bypass; 414 focused cases and 28 contracts pass. Structured review failures now expose only existing bounded side/class diagnostics, preserving private content and blocking status. The earlier quality failures are downstream of the failed required capsule matrix, rather than renewed version/smoke assertions. The new exact-head CI and current-head Codex review are running. No retry or duplicate review request was sent; the underlying contract fault remains to be identified from the new diagnostics.

Linked repositories findings

nold-ai/specfact-cli

Inspected commit c618fe7, the branch for open PR #770—not the default branch.

  • Runtime smoke validates SPECFACT_SMOKE_MODULES_REPO against ci/runtime-smoke-fixture.lock.json, including repository, commit, tree, and clean working tree (scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py:163-205). The fixture action exports this variable after checking the pinned identities (.github/actions/setup-runtime-smoke-fixture/action.yml:7-36). The relocated modules fixture must preserve this contract. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • Core test setup recognizes SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO for module package imports (tests/conftest.py:28-54), but no SPECFACT_CLI_REPO consumer was found in this checkout. The core test commands invoke pytest directly (pyproject.toml:373-375), so the modules workflow must explicitly implement any SPECFACT_CLI_REPO baseline override. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • This PR #770 checkout declares core version 0.55.10 (pyproject.toml:7), while the reviewed modules workflow intends immutable core 0.55.4 for the full suite. The paired integration/smoke core and immutable full-suite baseline must remain separate. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

603-603: 🎯 Functional Correctness

tests/unit/test_capsule_review_projection.py already imports json, so the new json.dumps and json.loads calls do not cause a NameError.

277-277: 🩺 Stability & Availability

The workflow["on"] lookup is safe in this path. _break_schedule receives the mapping created by _stage_deferral_candidate with yaml.BaseLoader, so the unquoted on key remains a string. The standard-resolver KeyError premise does not apply.

Published signed follow-up ccc0f4eb fixes the exact W1514 trace-decoding warning. The affected two cases and actual Pylint adapter pass; independent review and normal signed hooks pass, including 28 contracts. All gates remain intact.

The earlier 816 independent job 117951063302 still reports contracts execution errors on both base and head. Its public projection does not identify the cause. Old-path pytest rows and CC16 at line1454 cannot automatically be treated as new head failures: the head file has 770 lines, and the controller can retain fixed baseline findings while the projection omits disposition. Individual snapshot attribution remains unproven. No runtime, timeout or capability change is justified from that output alone.

The tools failure was a Cargo download HTTP/2 error. A single nonpublishing infrastructure build was dispatched for816, then cancelled as superseded only after the new ccc required native build started. No deterministic review retries were requested. Current-head customer and independent signed acceptance remain required. Planning #517 and core #770 are unchanged.

@codex review

Please review current head ee2dff6. The recorded code-review completion is for 816c827; the later changes are the explicit UTF-8 fixture read and historical evidence clarification. No current-head request or pending code-review receipt was present when checked. Keep this to code review; no paid security service is requested.

Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.

Observe sealed native compatibility decisions through a bounded private witness
and a finite public summary. Preserve the independent review boundaries and
existing native analyzer inputs.

Share the PID reader between the controller proof and execution tests. Await a
complete positive newline record under the original deadline, while retaining
the WAIT protocol and required physical acceptance.

🔀 Multi-repo context nold-ai/specfact-cli

Linked repositories findings

nold-ai/specfact-cli — PR #770 branch refs/pull/770/head (c618fe7)

  • Pinned core baseline may be ignored: Core’s test setup derives project_root from its own tests/conftest.py location and sets SPECFACT_REPO_ROOT; it does not read SPECFACT_CLI_REPO (tests/conftest.py:10-19). The full suite runs python tools/smart_test_coverage.py run --level full from the current workspace (.github/workflows/pr-orchestrator.yml:370-381). A modules workflow change that only exports SPECFACT_CLI_REPO may therefore still test the checked-out PR workspace rather than the separately checked-out baseline. No SPECFACT_CLI_REPO consumer was found in the searched core paths. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

  • Existing fixture variable remains SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO: Test initialization resolves the companion modules checkout exclusively from SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO or sibling paths (tests/conftest.py:30-52). Core workflows likewise export SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO, not SPECFACT_CLI_REPO. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

  • Runtime-smoke relocation is supported: scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py accepts an explicit --modules-repo argument and resolves the smoke fixture via that argument or SPECFACT_SMOKE_MODULES_REPO (scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py:159-168, :699). The existing workflow passes $SPECFACT_SMOKE_MODULES_REPO explicitly for macOS and Windows smoke runs (.github/workflows/pr-orchestrator.yml:935-939, :997-1001), so supplying a relocated verified fixture path is compatible. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]

The PID writer already includes the required final newline. self_test.c formats the record with "%d\n" and writes the complete buffer to native-self-test.pid. The proposed timeout scenario is not supported by the native producer.

522-522: 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration

The concern is refuted. The quality job checks out the declared core into baseline-core, verifies its commit and tree, then runs hatch run test with SPECFACT_CLI_REPO set to that checkout. A repository test asserts this binding. The core tests/conftest.py behavior does not show that this modules suite ignores the selected core dependency.

Comment thread .github/workflows/capsule-customer-execution.yml Outdated
Keep native preparation, review exits and cleanup intact when diagnostic parsing
or receipt writes fail. Register nine new regression cases in the existing proof
command and retain independent core 0.55.4 and 0.55.10 verification evidence.
djm81 added 2 commits October 20, 2026 07:07
Record the seven existing physical definitions and exact R100 identities
before moving them into native acceptance. Five ownership assertions fail
as expected, while the portable and PID controls pass.

This checkpoint changes no production behavior and claims no native
execution acceptance. The implementation follows in a separate commit.

Refs: #521
Move the seven original physical broker tests to an explicit native owner and
require all 702 R100 outcomes before candidate preparation and receipt writing.
Keep portable tests and shared PID consumers intact. Admit exact delivered
normal bytes and a separately built signed stall fixture, retain bounded
failure reports, and own process-group cleanup through the existing deadlines.

The unchanged released-core 0.55.4 full recipe passes 1033 host proofs and
5771 ordinary tests with 95 subtests, 62 explicit skips, and five baseline
warnings. Final local native proof passes 702 cases without skips; its three
separate refusal controls also pass. Hosted acceptance remains required.

🔀 Multi-repo context nold-ai/specfact-cli

Linked repositories findings

nold-ai/specfact-cli — refs/pull/770/head (c618fe7)

  • Core’s test harness derives project_root from its own tests/conftest.py location and sets SPECFACT_REPO_ROOT; it does not read SPECFACT_CLI_REPO (tests/conftest.py:12-24). The PR’s exported SPECFACT_CLI_REPO therefore has no observed consumer in this checkout. [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • Core resolves the companion modules checkout through SPECFACT_MODULES_REPO (tests/conftest.py:30-48), matching the workflow’s existing module-fixture export contract (tests/unit/workflows/test_requirements_evidence_delivery_workflow.py:416-417). [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • Runtime smoke supports the relocated fixture: _resolve_modules_repo accepts the explicit configured path, and the CLI exposes --modules-repo (scripts/runtime_discovery_smoke.py:159-175, :699). [::nold-ai/specfact-cli::]
  • Core’s workflow contract expects exactly one full-suite owner using python tools/smart_test_coverage.py run --level full (tests/unit/workflows/test_trustworthy_green_checks.py:480-489). The coverage tool resolves its project root from its invocation/workspace rather than SPECFACT_CLI_REPO (tools/smart_test_coverage.py:100-102), so the new baseline checkout path must also be used as the command’s actual working directory or otherwise wired into the test runner.

59-59: 🎯 Functional Correctness

No smart-test change is required.

hatch run smart-test-check only validates configuration. The workflow assigns the full-suite gate to hatch run test, which explicitly runs all six host proofs before ordinary discovery. The smart-test command intentionally runs only the retained deferred-review proof.

Add the real namespace-absent CLI regression and ci05 requirement before the candidate import correction. The recorded released-core subprocess fails through the eager native proof import.
Load the physical proof adapter only in candidate acceptance so the shared customer CLI starts without developer module paths. Keep proof mandatory inside its admitted runtime before preparation and receipt writing.

@coderabbitai review

Review current signed head 048c1280c4cc3631015a50559ae955f57da13d4b. Automatic reviews are paused and final_review_risk_coverage still covers c3642c9. This is the single requested pass for the newly published source. Existing CI, security and protected review gates remain required.

Review finished.

Note: CodeRabbit is an incremental review system and does not re-review already reviewed commits. This command is applicable only when automatic reviews are paused.

Replace the universal absent-namespace precondition with real CLI help
and import events. Retain the candidate proof exclusion, positive trace
control, environment guards and mode options.

Replay the corrected regression against original c364 production, then
verify 230 focused passes with released core 0.55.4. Preserve all frozen
proof inputs and keep hosted controller/native acceptance separate.

Closing unmerged as not planned under the scope reset in #517 and nold-ai/specfact-cli#770. The owner has explicitly directed planning-only readiness work and no further VM or capsule delivery.

This PR combines the useful #518 fixture identity correction with later native broker proof, capsule diagnostics and acceptance work. That broader delivery no longer fits the reset. The branch, signed commits, diff and historical evidence are preserved. The narrow CI fixture repair will be assessed separately for planning readiness. Closing this PR does not mark its unfinished capsule gates as passed or completed.

No merge, branch deletion, review waiver or protected authority change is included.
