The 1-bit Industrial Control System (pronounced as "one-bicks") is a single-bit processor designed for use in systems requiring decisions based on sequence of single-bit information. The design is directly based on the MC14500B CMOS microprocessor from Motorola.
It has a remarkably low transistor count, with my current iteration of the design requiring only ~250-300 discrete transistors for the entire chip, which I have physically built and documented the results of in this post. In comparison, even the first microprocessor the 4-bit Intel 4004 (1971) contained about 2250 transistors.
