Add preset temperature numbers for Adam zones - #1169
This adds a number entity for each preset temperature of a zone, so Home Assistant users of an Adam (and a non-legacy Anna) can change the temperatures behind their presets. It is the integration side of plugwise/python-plugwise#938.
This PR is a draft until python-plugwise#938 is in a release. The manifest.json requirement then moves to that version; until then, CI tests against the fixtures in this PR.
Changes
Each zone with its own preset rule gets five configuration numbers: Home, Night, Away, Vacation and Anti-frost preset temperature. They have bounds 4-30 and step 0.5, and write through set_number().
English and Dutch translations, and icons, for the new numbers.
Changing a preset temperature resets a manual setpoint on that zone to its active preset. The CHANGELOG line says so.
On a gateway with cooling, each zone also gets five cooling preset numbers that write the cooling setpoint.
Tests
Snapshot tests for the new numbers on Adam and Anna, and tests that set a preset number on an Adam zone and on an Anna, plus an out-of-range value.
The fixtures are updated from python-plugwise#938, which adds the preset temperatures and changes the order of some preset lists.
The climate snapshot only changes in that preset order. The diagnostics snapshot also gains the new preset temperatures.
The entity counts in test_init.py go up by 10.
Running in Home Assistant
A test Home Assistant (2026.10.2) runs this branch with python-plugwise#938, connected to my Adam. Each zone's device page shows the five preset temperature numbers under Configuration. I changed the Home preset of one zone in Home Assistant and the Adam took the new value. An Away change made in the Plugwise app showed up in Home Assistant.

Summary
New Features
Added adjustable heating temperature controls for the Home, Night, Away, Vacation, and Anti-frost presets, with values constrained to each preset’s supported range and step size.
Gateways with cooling also include adjustable cooling temperatures for these presets.
Preset temperature controls are available for zones with their own presets. Changing a preset temperature resets the zone’s manual setpoint to its active preset.
Each zone with its own preset rule gets one number per preset, writing
through set_number(). The test fixtures are copied from python-plugwise
and include its per-zone preset order.

I think for the cooling preset setpoints this needs to be added: entity_registry_enabled_default=False,
This will initially disable the showing of the cooling preset setpoints. The majority of the systems out there will be heating-only systems.
Or, maybe this line is NOT needed because the value_keys attribute takes care of showing the Numbers that are actually there?
@bouwew Partly Yes, value_keys handles that. _preset_temperatures() writes setpoint on a heating-only gateway, and setpoint_low plus setpoint_high when cooling is present. The cooling descriptions match on setpoint_high alone, so on a heating-only system those numbers are never created and there is nothing to disable.
On a gateway with cooling the two setpoints are coupled. v1.15.0 refuses a preset heating setpoint above that preset's cooling setpoint, and the error offers either lowering the heating setpoint or raising the cooling one. With the cooling number disabled, only the first of those is open to the user. I would leave these enabled where cooling is present.
You are right about two things I had not checked. Cooling is decided gateway-wide, so every zone with its own preset rule gets the five cooling numbers even where cooling is switched off for that zone. The gateway already records this per zone, in location/actuator_functionalities/thermostat_functionality/cooling_allowed, and python-plugwise never reads it. In adam_heatpump_cooling four of ten zones have it set. I will open a python-plugwise PR to gate the preset setpoints on it.
The other one is that the Adam cooling path has no test, because every Adam number test uses the heating-only fixture. I am adding a snapshot and a service test on m_adam_cooling.
A number description now carries a key and a data_key. The key names the
entity, and for the cooling numbers that is a synthetic name ending in
_preset_cooling_temperature. The data_key names the actuator to read, and
every description sets one.
The data_key is typed as one flat Literal of the eight number keys that
exist in GwEntityData, and the value keys are typed as the setpoint names
they can hold. The platform reads a device as GwEntityData rather than as
an untyped mapping.
The snapshot test loads m_adam_cooling with cooling_present set. It covers
two zones carrying ten preset numbers each, alongside the boiler, DHW and
offset numbers.
The service test writes an away preset cooling temperature on a zone and
asserts the call reaches set_number with setpoint="setpoint_high".
