Before

Dark mode used Starlight's own grey palette, with a pale blue accent behind the current sidebar item and the main button. It didn't look like Chek.

After

Dark mode uses the dark tokens that the app and the web app share:

  • #0e0f15 (night) for the page.
  • #171922 for the header, the sidebar and code blocks.
  • #262937 for borders.
  • #7d93ff for links.

The main button and the current sidebar item are filled with electric blue #2448e8 and paper text in both modes, like the app's buttons. Code blocks sit on the brand's surfaces in both modes instead of the code theme's grey. Light mode gets the same greys and hairlines as the web app.

How

  • Starlight's color variables in src/styles/brand.css are set from app/web/src/styles.css.
  • Small overrides for .sl-link-button.primary and the current sidebar link.
  • Expressive Code's --ec-* variables are overridden in CSS. Setting them through styleOverrides in astro.config.ts broke the code blocks that starlight-openapi renders.

Checks

  • bun run check, bun run lint, bun run format:check and bun run build pass
  • Checked in light and dark mode with Playwright screenshots of the home page, the quick start and an API reference page

Generated by Claude Code

Dark mode now takes the app's dark tokens: night for the page, the raised
card color for the header and sidebar, and the lighter accent for links.
Buttons and the current sidebar item fill with electric blue in both modes,
and code blocks sit on the same surfaces instead of the theme's grey.
