• Explicit engine time-range searches now fail closed instead of returning misleading empty results: When engines and time_range are combined, every configured SearXNG instance must provide /config and every selected engine must confirm time-range support before the search runs. Callers can omit time_range or use an engine-specific query filter when capability cannot be confirmed. Testing

• Release and protocol contract tests now validate stable semantics: Version surfaces, workflow action pins, Node support, and MCP tool definitions are checked structurally instead of against mutable release literals or opaque whole-definition digests. This prevents routine releases, action refreshes, and description-only updates from failing unrelated tests while preserving the supported contracts. (#​259, #​260)
