Repository security and community files. Settings changed outside this PR are listed at the end.

Files

  • SECURITY.md: supported versions and how to report a vulnerability privately (GitHub private vulnerability reporting, now turned on).
  • Dependabot (.github/dependabot.yml): weekly updates for npm and GitHub Actions, grouped into one PR each.
  • CodeQL (.github/workflows/codeql.yml): JavaScript/TypeScript code scanning on pushes to main, on pull requests and weekly.
  • Least-privilege tokens: ci.yml and codeql.yml declare permissions: contents: read (CodeQL adds security-events: write for its job only).
  • CODEOWNERS: @samiahmedsiddiqui owns everything, which matches the existing "require code owner review" protection on main.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md, pull request template, issue forms (bug report and feature request, plus a link to report security problems privately).

Settings already changed (not part of this diff)

  • Dependabot alerts and security updates: on
  • Secret scanning and push protection: on
  • Private vulnerability reporting: on
  • Actions default token: read-only, and Actions can no longer approve pull requests
  • "Always suggest updating pull request branches": on
  • main protection: the 9 CI jobs are now required status checks (previously none were)
  • New ruleset "Protect release tags": v* tags can't be deleted or moved (admins can bypass)

You are seeing this message because GitHub Code Scanning has recently been set up for this repository, or this pull request contains the workflow file for the Code Scanning tool.

What Enabling Code Scanning Means:

  • The 'Security' tab will display more code scanning analysis results (e.g., for the default branch).
  • Depending on your configuration and choice of analysis tool, future pull requests will be annotated with code scanning analysis results.
  • You will be able to see the analysis results for the pull request's branch on this overview once the scans have completed and the checks have passed.

For more information about GitHub Code Scanning, check out the documentation.

- SECURITY.md: report vulnerabilities through private GitHub advisories
- Dependabot: weekly npm and GitHub Actions updates, grouped
- CodeQL code scanning on pushes, pull requests and weekly
- CI and CodeQL workflows get a read-only token
- CODEOWNERS, CONTRIBUTING.md, pull request and issue templates
