Checked on main: auto_init_config in audit_openssf_baseline and level in get_pending_data appear only in the signature and docstring, nothing reads them, and the four test callers are updated. The CHANGELOG entry is right to mark it breaking.
Two notes, neither blocking:
packages/darnit/src/darnit/tools/audit.py:615has anotherauto_init_configfield in darnit-core that nothing reads either. Out of #528's scope; a follow-up is fine.- #549 and #576 add a test that passes
auto_init_config=False; whichever lands second gets a one-line fix from me.
@mlieberman85 it is a breaking MCP schema change, so merge timing is yours with #559.

Thanks for picking this up. I traced both parameters through the handler, and the removal itself is right.
get_pending_data(profile)is ignored too:tools.py:769accepts it and nothing reads it. The new tests (test_tools_signatures.py:112,:131) now assert it's present, andskills/darnit-data/SKILL.md:17still tells agents it scopes the questions. Could you remove it in this same breaking change? If you'd rather leave it for a follow-up, please at least drop those two asserts and the skill line.- I'd rather not carry the FR-014 exemption in
test_no_product_changes.py(about 190 lines). It matches this PR's exact diff lines, so once merged it never fires again. The underlying problem is that the guard blocks any signature change its parity callers depend on. Please drop the exemption; we'll retire or narrow the guard, either here or in a small PR first. - Per AI_POLICY.md, please add an
Assisted-by: Cursor:<model-version>trailer to the commits. The PR body names Cursor but not the model. - Small: MCP clients that still send these arguments aren't rejected (FastMCP drops unknown arguments), so the CHANGELOG could say that only direct Python callers break. The
init_project_configsentence can go, since the parameter never did anything. - Small:
attestis read (tools.py:300), so the remainingvulture_allowlist.pyentry and its new comment are inaccurate. Either remove it or leave the file as it was.
Heads-up: #549 adds a test that passes auto_init_config=False, so whichever lands second needs a one-line fix.
Drafted with Claude Code; reviewed and posted by me.
* refactor(baseline): remove the unused darnit_baseline.config package
darnit_baseline.config (mappings.py) held PROJECT_TYPE_EXCLUSIONS and
DEFAULT_FILE_LOCATIONS and re-exported a few darnit.config names. No
product code imports it, and no TOML, entry point, skill, script or
workflow names it: project-type exclusions are not read anywhere, and
file locations come from the TOML. Its one reader was the test that
checks each declared project_reference against the field's usual file
names (FR-016); that test now owns the table for the fields the TOML
references, with the same patterns. No behavior change.

* chore(scripts): remove extract_templates.py and audit_hermetic_real_repos.py
extract_templates.py was a one-time move of inline TOML templates into
.tmpl files; that migration is done. audit_hermetic_real_repos.py was a
manual run of the reproducibility hermetic-build handler against local
clones. No workflow, test, doc or other script runs either.

* refactor(tools): remove the unused org-wide audit loop and formatters
darnit.tools.audit_org.run_org_audit, aggregate_org_results,
format_org_results_markdown and format_org_results_json have no
callers. The list_org_repos and audit_org MCP tools use only
enumerate_org_repos and _audit_single_repo (with clone_repo and
_detect_default_branch), which stay. The tests of the removed
aggregation and formatting go with them; calculate_compliance, which
the aggregation called, keeps its own tests. No behavior change.

* refactor(baseline): remove two unused remediation helpers
_get_domain in the remediation orchestrator and
_extract_governance_mentions in the repository scanner have no
callers. No behavior change.

* refactor(core): remove unused audit helpers and create_server_from_dict
- darnit.tools.audit.list_available_checks returned a hard-coded
summary that nothing called. The list_available_checks MCP tool is
darnit_baseline.tools.list_available_checks and is unchanged.
- darnit.tools.audit.AuditOptions had no readers.
- darnit.server.factory.create_server_from_dict copied create_server's
body for an already-parsed dict; only tests called it. Those tests now
build the server through create_server from a TOML file, as
`darnit serve` does (the CSL recording test passes the operator
configuration the way --operator-config does). Tests that duplicated
an existing create_server test are dropped.
No behavior change.

* refactor(baseline): remove the unused minimal SECURITY.md template and template parameter
No remediation, TOML or code selects the security_policy_minimal
template; OSPS-VM-02.01 uses security_policy_standard. The template
entry and its .tmpl file go.
create_security_policy took a template argument ("standard, minimal,
enterprise") that its body never read: the tool always runs the
OSPS-VM-02.01 remediation. The parameter is removed. MCP clients that
still send it are unaffected (FastMCP drops unknown arguments); Python
callers that pass template= get a TypeError.
The audit_openssf_baseline auto_init_config parameter is left to #620.

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I've addressed the requested changes and pushed the updated PR. The latest CI checks are now passing. Would appreciate another review when you have a chance. Thanks! |

The parameter removal is right (#528): callers, skill, schema tests and changelog all updated. Two things before merge:
- The PR deletes
tests/darnit/parity/tier1/test_no_product_changes.py, the FR-014 guard, and the description doesn't mention it. This PR touches both the parity harness (tests/darnit/parity/tier1/conftest.py,tier2/) andpackages/*/src, which is exactly what that guard checks, so it reads as removing the check rather than passing it. Please restore the file. If the guard genuinely misfires on this kind of change, that's a separate PR with its own reasoning. vulture_allowlist.pyalso drops_ = attest, butattestis still a parameter ofaudit_openssf_baseline. If the body reads it now, fine; if not, vulture will flag it. Either way, say which.
Also needs a rebase; it's 12 days behind main.
Summary
Closes #528.
Remove unused parameters from the MCP tool interfaces:
auto_init_configfromaudit_openssf_baselineandlevelfromget_pending_data, since both were previously ignored.darnit-dataskill instructions.CHANGELOG.md, including the earlier removal ofget_pending_context(level)in feat: operator config and trust, result authority, candidate integrity, remediation safety (040-043) #552.Existing audit and pending-data behavior is preserved.

Additional Notes
This PR changes the public Python function signatures and MCP tool schemas. Direct Python callers passing the removed parameters will need to update their calls.
get_pending_context(level)was already removed in #552 and requires no further implementation changes. No package versions were changed. Since this is a breaking API change, release timing and any required governance approval should be confirmed with the maintainers before merging.
