Release PR for Pinakes 0.9.0, the first stable release of the 0.9.0 cycle (rc.1, rc.2, rc.3). It closes the limits I left documented in rc.3, adds the member search to the visitor log (#522, merged in here) and carries the release data.
What changes since 0.9.0-rc.3
Loans and closures: the limits left in rc.3
A promoted reservation ends on an open day of the branch of the copy it takes. This was the Major finding left motivated on Release 0.9.0-rc.3: loans follow later closures; the admin on a phone #521. With a book's copies in several branches, requestBranch() is null and the end followed the general calendar, because the copy was not known yet. ReservationManager::createLoanFromReservation() now moves the end to the next open day of the chosen copy's branch, under the copy lock, when the book's capacity (with the promoted reservation's queue position) and that copy can take the added days; otherwise the requested end stays. This is the rule approval already applies (LoanApprovalController). Without the copy check the overlap trigger would refuse the loan and the reservation would never be promoted.
The "book available" e-mail reads the loan's day (the Minor left on Release 0.9.0-rc.3: loans follow later closures; the admin on a phone #521). noticeDueDate() reads the loan the promotion created (its id is passed on; the retry sweep finds it by book, reader, origin prenotazione and start day) and states its usable day, instead of recomputing the request's end. A retried e-mail after a closure is removed now names the day the loan really has.
F011: a refused move re-arms the due-soon reminder once. New column prestiti.warning_sent_for (migrate_0.9.0.sql, also in schema.sql and in NotificationService::addNotificationColumns()): the sender stores the usable day it announces. When a calendar save refuses a move for capacity, a reminder already sent for another day (or, for rows warned before the column existed, for the stored date) is re-armed; the same day is never re-sent. The code uses the column only when it exists (LibraryCalendar::hasWarningSentFor()), so a host that refuses the ALTER keeps the old behaviour.
F015: a loan whose copy is replaced during a calendar save is still moved. The pre-lock filter now considers every branch holding a copy of the book, not only the branch of the copy found by the first scan; the decision is still taken on the current row under the lock.
F016: the history of a move records the loan as it was.ActivityLog::loadLoanSnapshot(..., lockingRead: true) reads the "before" state with a current read in extendDueDates() and reconcileOverdue(), so a desk edit committed while the save ran is not shown as changed by the calendar.
The card field also finds a member by name, surname, e-mail, phone or card, for a reader who forgot the card. Picking a member sends utente_id, looked up within the operator's borrower scope; a card reader that types the code and sends Enter works as before. The review fixes are in #522.
Release data and checks
version.json 0.9.0; CHANGELOG.md[0.9.0]; the README lead covers the whole 0.9.0 cycle, with the v0.8.9 and v0.8.8 highlights (grep -c '^### v[0-9]' README.md = 2, the badge is still the dynamic one).
The braces npm audit waiver is removed: npm audit reports 0 vulnerabilities in both trees, and the waiver list is empty again.
Schema integrity now checks every column. The tables were derived from schema.sql, the columns only for a few named ones, so a column added to schema.sql without a migration passed every upgrade check. tests/helpers/source-expectations.js now derives all 828 columns of the 78 core tables from schema.sql (both quoting styles) and schema-integrity.spec.js compares them with information_schema, on a fresh install and after the upgrade.
Migration
migrate_0.9.0.sql adds one nullable DATE column, guarded by information_schema and idempotent on MySQL and MariaDB. tests/migration-0.9.0.unit.php runs the real file against the rc.3 shape twice (column type, default, position after warning_sent, rows and flags preserved, second run a no-op, schema.sql in step, version ≤ release). Upgrading from 0.8.9 runs migrate_0.9.0-rc.1.sql and migrate_0.9.0.sql; from rc.3 only the second.
Tests
tests/calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php (sandbox database with the real schema and triggers, two sessions): promotion ends on the copy's branch day; promotion keeps the requested end when that copy is promised on the added day while the book has room; the retried and the first e-mail name the loan's day after the closure is removed; a refused move re-arms the reminder once and not on the next save; the sender stores the day; a loan whose copy is replaced while waiting for the lock is moved; the history's before state is the current row. Each fix was removed in turn (7 mutations) and the case guarding it failed.
tests/settings-pr-independent-25.unit.php runs its 25 scenarios only when it is the script, so the new suite can reuse its harness.
The derived column check was proven by dropping prestiti.warning_sent_for from a database: the case fails naming that column.
Local gates on the release head: PHPStan clean; ci-quality-local with only the known local reds (backup-partial-restore, maintenance-recovery-lockout, stack-090-settings-flexibility for database grants, desiderata-visibility); the loan, calendar and settings suites pass against the test database; reinstall-test green: Test A 171 passed, Test B (0.8.9 → 0.9.0 through the admin UI) 163 passed and 8 skipped, schema integrity with every column passed after the upgrade, 16 plugins intact, 12 accounts unchanged.

A reader who forgot the card can be found by name, surname, e-mail or phone, with the borrower search of the loan form. Picking a member sends utente_id, looked up within the operator's borrower scope as the card is; the operator confirms with "Registra ingresso". Enter picks a suggestion only when one is highlighted with the arrows, so a desk reader that types the code and sends Enter keeps working while the list is open.
…ged text drops the old list
After a pick the focus moved to "Registra ingresso", so the Enter of a card swiped by the next reader confirmed the member picked before. The field keeps the focus with its text selected: Enter confirms the pick, and a swipe replaces the name, drops the pick and sends that card. The results of the previous text are removed as soon as the text changes, so none can be picked while the new search runs.
A promoted reservation ends on an open day of the branch of the copy it takes, when the book and that copy can take the added days, as approval does. The "book available" e-mail reads the return day from the loan the promotion created, also when it is retried. A move refused for capacity re-arms the due-soon reminder once for the new usable day: prestiti.warning_sent_for (migrate_0.9.0.sql) keeps the day the reminder announced. A calendar save considers every branch holding a copy of the book before the lock, so a loan whose copy is replaced by one in a closed branch is still moved, and the history of a move reads the loan with a current read under the lock.
Version 0.9.0, its CHANGELOG entry and the README lead for the whole 0.9.0 cycle, with the v0.8.9 and v0.8.8 highlights. The braces npm audit waiver is removed: npm audit is clean in both trees.
…esh install and after an upgrade
The tables were derived from schema.sql, the columns only checked for a few named ones, so a column added to schema.sql without a migration passed on every upgrade check. The columns are now derived from schema.sql too (both quoting styles, index and constraint lines left out) and compared with information_schema.
The notice of the first failed search could satisfy the assertions of the second one before it ran. The field is cleared first, so only the non-array answer brings the notice back.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.

Reviewed changes
I reviewed the whole release PR. The visitor log commits were already reviewed on #522 through 7781513, and git diff 7781513 f789a59 --stat lists only the calendar and release files, so the merge brings #522 in unchanged. The rest of this review covers the calendar, reminder, schema and release commits.
A promoted reservation ends on its copy's branch day: createLoanFromReservation() recomputes the end with CirculationPolicy::dueDateFor(..., $copyId) after the copy is locked and its overlap is rechecked. It extends the end only when two checks pass: book capacity (with lockingReads and the queue position), and a per-copy FOR UPDATE overlap over [end+1, branchDue]. The promoted reservation is already completata at that point, so it does not count against itself.
The "book available" e-mail reads the loan: noticeDueDate() resolves data_fine from the loan's stored date and its copy. The promotion passes prestito_id. The retry sweep matches on data_prestito = data_inizio_richiesta, and it normalizes the start the same way processBookAvailability() does. Without a loan it falls back to the old requestDueDate().
prestiti.warning_sent_for: the migration uses the guarded INFORMATION_SCHEMA idiom and is mirrored in schema.sql and addNotificationColumns(). Every write is behind the cached hasWarningSentFor() check. The column is set when the reminder is claimed and cleared on revert and on a move. A refused move re-arms the reminder only when COALESCE(warning_sent_for, data_scadenza) differs from the new usable day.
Pre-lock filter covers every branch of the book: extendDueDates() now treats a loan as a candidate if any branch with a copy of the book is closed that day. The move is still decided on the locked re-read.
History "before" state: loadLoanSnapshot(..., lockingRead: true) does a LOCK IN SHARE MODE read. Both callers already hold the book lock inside a transaction.
Schema integrity checks every column: parseCreateTableColumns() derives the columns from schema.sql. Run locally, it parses all 78 tables (823 columns, including prestiti.warning_sent_for), and the table-count guard throws if any CREATE TABLE is not parsed.
Test harness reuse: the early return in settings-pr-independent-25.unit.php keeps both suites running, because scripts/ci-run-unit-tests.sh runs each tests/*.unit.php as its own script.
Release data: version.json is 0.9.0, the CHANGELOG has a ## [0.9.0] heading, and the README has the What's New section plus the v0.8.9 and v0.8.8 highlights. The braces waiver is removed. Every bundled plugin's requires_app is at most 0.9.0-rc.2.

Included review availability: This review used your included allowance. Your plan provides up to 1 included review per hour; 0 remain after this review.
A calendar save now ends with one pass over the loans whose due-soon reminder was sent: when the usable day differs from the day the reminder named, it is re-armed once. That covers a move refused by capacity or by the overlap trigger, and a closure removed after such a refusal, also when no calendar rule is left. A move that succeeds keeps a reminder that already named the new day. A failed send reverts only its own claim, so a reminder claimed meanwhile for a new day is not sent twice. An account that cannot add prestiti.warning_sent_for no longer stops the pickup and other reminders. The retried "book available" e-mail finds the promoted loan by its creation time, also after staff changed its dates. The visitor log says to pick the member from the suggestions when a typed name is not a card. The schema column parser accepts lines without indentation.
Follow-ups in the review body, both fixed in 7c03a6f:
ReservationManager.php:901-909 (retry after the loan's dates change). The retry sweep now finds the promoted loan by creation time: the reservation is completed in the same transaction that creates its loan, so the loan is the one created closest to the reservation's updated_at, within a day; the start day only breaks a tie. No schema change was needed. New case in tests/calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php: staff moves the loan's start and due date before the retry, and the e-mail names the loan's current day. It fails with the old data_prestito = ? lookup.
LibraryCalendar.php:454-464 (overlap trigger refusal). Covered by the re-arm pass that now ends every calendar save (rearmChangedReminders()): a move refused by the trigger leaves the stored date, the usable day changes, and the reminder is re-armed once. New case: two copies, the loan's copy promised from day 6, the closure on day 5; the reminder that named day 5 is re-armed. It fails with the pass removed.
The Major on version.json is answered on its thread: migrate_0.9.0-rc.1.sql already adds the three inventory columns and is unchanged since v0.9.0-rc.1.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
ℹ️ No critical issues. One minor suggestion inline, about the retry lookup for the "book available" e-mail.
Reviewed changes
I reviewed 7c03a6f, which responds to the CodeRabbit review of f789a59.
Re-arming the reminder is now one pass: rearmChangedReminders() runs at the end of extendDueDates(), and also when no calendar rule is left. It computes the usable day with the same LibraryCalendar::dueDate(data_scadenza, copia_id) the sender stores, so a reminder it re-arms is not re-armed again on every save. The re-arm UPDATE is guarded by data_scadenza and warning_sent_for <=>.
A move that succeeds keeps a reminder that already named the new day: the IF(warning_sent_for <=> ?, …) assignments set warning_sent first, so it reads the old warning_sent_for. With SIMULTANEOUS_ASSIGNMENT on MariaDB the result is the same.
A failed send reverts only its own claim: the revert now also requires warning_sent = 1 AND warning_sent_for <=> effective_due_at.
The optional column no longer blocks other reminders: the warning_sent_forALTER in addNotificationColumns() is wrapped in try/catch and logged.
The retry sweep finds the loan by when it was created: noticeDueDate() matches prestiti.created_at within a day of prenotazioni.updated_at. The start day only breaks a tie.
Visitor log message, column parser and tests: there is a new "pick the member from the suggestions" message in all 5 locales (the old key is still used by mobile-api). The column parser now uses ^\s*, and code-quality.spec.js has a unit check for it. Six new cases are in calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php.
Each failed send moves prenotazioni.updated_at, so a retry more than a day after the promotion fell outside the window around it and named the requested day. The lookup now takes the first loan from a reservation of the book for the reader created between the reservation's creation and its last update.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
ℹ️ No critical issues. One minor edge case is noted inline, about the upper bound of the new retry lookup.

I reviewed 4481d38, which answers the earlier Pullfrog thread about the retry window drifting.
The retry lookup is anchored on the reservation's created_at: noticeDueDate() now takes the first origine = 'prenotazione' loan for this book and reader with created_at between the reservation's created_at and its updated_at. It no longer uses the loan's dates, so a loan whose dates staff changed is still found, and repeated revertClaim() bumps no longer push the loan out of the window.
Test for a retry days later: calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php moves updated_at three days ahead and still expects the loan's day.
…pletion
The reservation is completed before its loan is inserted, after the copy lock and the capacity reads, so the loan can be a few seconds newer than the completion time the sweep reads. The upper bound now keeps ten minutes of slack; the earliest loan still wins.

✅ No new issues found. The edge case from the previous review is fixed.
Reviewed changes
I reviewed 973a9f9, which answers the earlier Pullfrog thread about the upper bound of the retry lookup.
The retry lookup now allows for the loan being inserted after the completion: both branches of noticeDueDate() use ? + INTERVAL 10 MINUTE as the upper bound. The main branch sorts created_at ascending, so the slack can't make a later loan win over the real one. The fallback branch (used when created_at is empty) sorts descending, but it can't run in practice because the column is NOT NULL. The comment now says correctly that the completion comes before the loan INSERT.
Test for the timing gap: calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php sets the loan's created_at five seconds after the reservation's updated_at and expects the loan's day.

Loans and closures: the limits left in rc.3
requestBranch()is null and the end followed the general calendar, because the copy was not known yet.ReservationManager::createLoanFromReservation()now moves the end to the next open day of the chosen copy's branch, under the copy lock, when the book's capacity (with the promoted reservation's queue position) and that copy can take the added days; otherwise the requested end stays. This is the rule approval already applies (LoanApprovalController). Without the copy check the overlap trigger would refuse the loan and the reservation would never be promoted.noticeDueDate()reads the loan the promotion created (its id is passed on; the retry sweep finds it by book, reader, originprenotazioneand start day) and states its usable day, instead of recomputing the request's end. A retried e-mail after a closure is removed now names the day the loan really has.prestiti.warning_sent_for(migrate_0.9.0.sql, also inschema.sqland inNotificationService::addNotificationColumns()): the sender stores the usable day it announces. When a calendar save refuses a move for capacity, a reminder already sent for another day (or, for rows warned before the column existed, for the stored date) is re-armed; the same day is never re-sent. The code uses the column only when it exists (LibraryCalendar::hasWarningSentFor()), so a host that refuses theALTERkeeps the old behaviour.ActivityLog::loadLoanSnapshot(..., lockingRead: true)reads the "before" state with a current read inextendDueDates()andreconcileOverdue(), so a desk edit committed while the save ran is not shown as changed by the calendar.Visitor log (#522)
The card field also finds a member by name, surname, e-mail, phone or card, for a reader who forgot the card. Picking a member sends
utente_id, looked up within the operator's borrower scope; a card reader that types the code and sends Enter works as before. The review fixes are in #522.Release data and checks

tests/calendar-090-final-gaps.unit.php(sandbox database with the real schema and triggers, two sessions): promotion ends on the copy's branch day; promotion keeps the requested end when that copy is promised on the added day while the book has room; the retried and the first e-mail name the loan's day after the closure is removed; a refused move re-arms the reminder once and not on the next save; the sender stores the day; a loan whose copy is replaced while waiting for the lock is moved; the history's before state is the current row.
