Keep method and body when retrying a request - #936
SmileComm._request() in plugwise/smilecomm.py retries a request after an aiohttp ClientError (line 100) or an HTTP 504 (line 111). Both retries call self._request(command, retry - 1). The method and data arguments fall back to their defaults, "get" and None, so a retried PUT, POST or DELETE is sent as a GET of the same URL.
This has two effects:
The write is not sent again. If the first attempt never took effect, the gateway keeps its old value.
If the gateway answers the GET with XML, _request_validate() returns normally and the caller sees success.
Fix
Both retries now pass method=method, data=data.
Reproduction
I ran SmileComm._request(..., method="put", data=...) from current main against a local aiohttp mock gateway:
Scenario
Gateway received
Result on main
First PUT answered 504, GET answered with XML
PUT with body, then GET without body
Returns normally. The PUT is not repeated.
PUT connection closed twice, GET answered with XML
PUT, PUT, then GET without body
Returns normally. The PUT is not repeated.
PUT always answered 504, no GET route
PUT, then GET answered 405
Raises ConnectionFailedError from the 405 branch.
The second PUT in the second row is aiohttp's own retry of an idempotent request. On my Adam (firmware 3.12.6), GET /core/rules;id=<rule id> returns 200 with the rule XML. On real hardware the first scenario would therefore report success without repeating the PUT, whether or not the Adam applied it.
Tests
test_put_retried_as_put_after_504: the mock answers the first PUT with 504 and the second with 202. The test asserts that the gateway received two PUTs with the same body. On main it receives a PUT and a GET.
test_put_dropped_raises: the mock closes the connection on every PUT. The test asserts ConnectionFailedError and that every request was a PUT with the body. On main the library sends a GET and returns normally.
test_put_not_allowed_raises: the mock has no PUT route and answers 405. The test asserts ConnectionFailedError. It also passes on main. The existing raise_timeout tests reached the 405 branch only through the stray GET, and with the fix they run out of retries on the 504 instead. Without this test, coverage of smilecomm.py drops from 100% to 95%.
Question
With this fix a POST, PUT or DELETE is retried with its method and body, up to three more times. On main it was sent again as a GET. Resending a write can apply it twice. For set_zone_profile and the lock switch in set_switch_state() that is harmless, because they send a fixed state. For reboot_gateway it reboots the gateway a second time if the first request arrived but its answer was lost.
If you prefer to retry only GET requests, I can change this so a write is not retried at all and raises ConnectionFailedError after the first failure. That would still fix the bug, because a failed write would no longer be turned into a GET that reports success.

Bug Fixes
Setting changes retried after a timeout or HTTP 504 now retain their original request type and contents instead of being sent as read requests.
Failed retries continue to report connection errors, avoiding false reports that a setting change was completed when the gateway did not receive it.
A request that hit a timeout or a 504 was retried without its method
and data, so a PUT was resent as a GET. The change was not resent,
and the gateway's XML answer to that GET was taken as success. The
existing timeout tests passed only because the mock answered the
stray GET with 405.

Walkthrough
Retries after client errors and HTTP 504 responses now preserve the original request method and body. Async tests cover PUT retry behavior and connection errors.

Summary
Preserve method and body during retries plugwise/smilecomm.py, tests/test_generic.py, CHANGELOG.md
Retries pass the original method and body to _request. Tests check that PUT requests retain their method and body after HTTP 504 responses and dropped connections, and that an unsupported PUT route raises ConnectionFailedError. The changelog records the retry issue.
Write retries now retain their method and body. No outstanding merge-blocking issue is established.
