feat(SESF-64): resolve project scope to indexed roots and print a Scope line - #85
Project filters matched project_root exactly. A short name such as CoWork, a subfolder root (CoWork/DocVault-CoWork) or a worktree path matched nothing, and searches from a worktree missed the main checkout.
New project_scope.resolve_project_scope:
'*' is every project; an empty argument uses the X-Project-Root header.
A path covers its indexed root and subfolders.
A path inside .worktrees/ or .claude/worktrees/ resolves to its repository.
An unindexed path falls back to its nearest indexed parent.
A bare name matches root basenames case-insensitively.
A miss searches every project, and the note says why.
Milvus filters use project_root in [...] for several roots. FTS search accepts ("in", values), and count_rows accepts a list.
search_session, search_all_sessions and get_session_stats resolve the scope and open their output with Scope: <roots> (<note>). The JSON format carries a scope object.
CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md describe the scope rules.
Decisions
get_issue_timeline stays cross-project: an issue ID already scopes it.
Codex worktrees under ~/.codex/worktrees/<id>/<Repo> sit outside the repo path, so a path lookup does not reach them. A name lookup (staktrakr) does.
The list_sessions part of the issue plan is dropped: SESF-63 is cancelled.
Tests
tests/test_project_scope.py (34 tests): each resolution branch, label truncation, Milvus in escaping, the FTS IN filter with bound parameters, count_rows and distinct_values, the known-roots cache, root lists reaching both engines, and the Scope line.
Checked against the live index: the lookup returns the index's distinct roots, CoWork resolves to CoWork plus DocVault-CoWork, and a SessionFlow worktree header resolves to the repository and its worktrees.

New Features
Search and statistics can now be scoped by project path or name, including subfolders and recognized worktrees.
When a path is not indexed, the app uses the nearest indexed parent when available; otherwise, it searches across all projects.
Search and statistics results now show which project scope was applied and explain fallback behavior.
…pe line
Project filters matched project_root exactly, so a short name such as
"CoWork", a subfolder root (CoWork/DocVault-CoWork) or a worktree path
matched nothing, and searches from a worktree missed the main checkout.
- project_scope.resolve_project_scope: '*' is every project; an empty
argument uses the X-Project-Root header; a path covers its indexed
subfolders; a path inside .worktrees/ or .claude/worktrees/ resolves to
its repository; an unindexed path falls back to its nearest indexed
parent; a bare name matches root basenames case-insensitively. A miss
searches every project and says why.
- rag_engine.known_project_roots reads FTS DISTINCT project_root (Milvus
scan fallback), cached for KNOWN_ROOTS_TTL_S.
- Milvus filters use `project_root in [...]` for several roots; FTS search
accepts ("in", values) and count_rows accepts a list.
- search_session, search_all_sessions and get_session_stats resolve the
scope and open their output with "Scope: <roots> (<note>)"; the JSON
format carries a scope object.
- get_issue_timeline stays cross-project: an issue ID already scopes it.
The change resolves project paths and names to indexed roots, supports multi-root filters in search and statistics, and reports the resolved scope in tool output. It also updates project-scope documentation and adds regression tests.

Summary
Multi-root filtering and root discovery fts_hybrid.py, rag_engine.py, tests/test_project_scope.py
FTS and Milvus filters now accept one or more project roots. Root discovery reads distinct roots from FTS, falls back to Milvus if needed, and caches results. Tests cover filtering, counts, and root discovery.
Resolve project paths and names project_scope.py, tests/test_project_scope.py, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md
ProjectScope resolves paths and basenames against indexed roots, including subfolders and recognized worktrees. Tests and documentation cover resolution and moved-folder behavior.
Apply and report resolved scope tools.py, tests/test_project_scope.py
Search and statistics tools pass resolved root filters to the engine. Search output includes scope details in Markdown or JSON, and tests cover tool resolution and formatting.

The title names the main change: project-scope resolution to indexed roots (feat SESF-64) plus a Scope line in output. The raw summary confirms resolve_project_scope, ProjectScope, the Scope: output line, and the scope JSON object. The title is specific and matches the changeset. It is long (76 characters), but it stays on topic.

Review findings on PR #85:
- known_project_roots trusted any successful FTS DISTINCT read. While the
backfill sentinel is set, or when FTS holds fewer rows than Milvus (a
rebuild or failed inserts), the list could miss roots and stay cached
for KNOWN_ROOTS_TTL_S. _fts_roots_complete checks both and the Milvus
scan runs instead.
- resolve_project_scope compared raw path strings, so `..`, `.` and `//`
segments could match the wrong root. The target goes through
posixpath.normpath (and a leading `//` collapses) before the worktree
split and root matching.
